Same problem here with poor WiFi connectivity over 5ghz. I am suspecting hardware issue since I have the latest SW running Android Nougat

I can add that I did a fresh install using Xperia Companion. . Battery seems dropping quickly also - 30% in two hours but with fairly intensive usage

Can anyone suggest an app that monitor WiFi connection quality /status since I suspect that the WiFi connection drop/ disconnect while the WiFi icon shows strong connection as others said earlier, thanks in advance.

My XZ has a few problems but aside from a shorter range than previous phones, WiFi issues aren't one of them. I get a solid, consistent WiFi connection. I am still on Marshmallow though.

Im also having an absolute nightmare with wifi disconnecting all of a sudden just after xmas. Must have been one of the updates. Thought it was my internet and have even got a new router, didnt think sony would have let me down. Cant hardly use phone to enjoy surfing the web now. It keeps stopping, freezing, disconnecting. Why have you wrecked my phone sony???

So, Sony, what is the status of this issue? You certainly must have an internal issue of the problem? When will it be fixed?

I have just taken delivery of the xz today and am finding this exact problem, the wifi range is extremely poor even on 2.4 ghz and the signal is very weak even when standing next to my BT Home Hub 5.

There is no connection at all on 5 ghz, but my Z3 compact works fine, my old HTC One M8 and my husband's HTC One M9 also work fine, there would seem to be a major problem with the wifi in the xz which I would have hoped could have been fixed by now.

After I got my Sony XZ phone first time, I got big problems with WiFi connection once I close the screen I lose my super fast WiFi connection and I got that loop Obtain IP addresses. So I start looking for some fix like app or some settings for a static IP. This work for me to make my WiFi 97% Stable the rest until 100% I think is some battery save behaviour that I don't understand. Go your advanced option from the WiFi network, set to static IP, IP address 192.168.1.45 (change that 45 on the end to be sure just your device is connected with that No. or will get a conflict), gateway 192.168.1.1, network p.l 24, DNS 1: 8.8.8.8, DNS 2: 8.8.4.4 My Sony Z1 is work perfect on same WiFi and I have same settings done on both, so for that I say it some Android 7 new stuff or Sony battery save mode after screen it's closed off the WiFi is full but is buffering and stop de video and start loading.
