Manual battery care (max 80% charge)

It would be nice if I could set a manual max charge for the phone to preserve the battery. Just like you can on a car and some laptops. 

Charging to 100% is not good for the battery. Even when done for a limited time as the included automatic battery care does.

Since the software has all these tricks up its sleeve already, it would be awesome to be able to set a max 80% on the battery for us that care about keeping our phone battery in good condition. 🔋

as far as I know, even when the phone shows 100% charge, the battery isn't actually, fully charged. same way the 0% doesn't mean the battery is completely drained. OEMs already prevent the battery from fully charging or draining, so I personally wouldn't worry about that.

That is probably the case. However, battery research done for cars showed even less (though less extreme) degradation over time when charged less (60% as opposed to 80%).

Since I don't really need the 100% very often (and for that I bring external battery) keeping it at max 80% should give some extra longevity.

Also slow charging will help (high temperatures = faster degradation).

It's possible to do your own hacky solution by having a manual timer on the charger. I might be looking for one, but it would be a lot better to build this into the phone.

Having a way for people to be more conservative than the OEM. I like to keep my phones running for many many years (my last one was 5 years, but I broke the screen, it was still going good with Lineage OS).
