Xperia Z1 camera - blurry pictures with noise and washed colours

Hi Everyone,

I'm a little concerned about the performance of the Xperia Z1 camera.

I had read already in some reviews that the pictures are not too sharp and the colours are washed, but now i have experienced it myself.

This camera should be way better than the camera in the iPhone 5, but i'm getting sharper images and more realistic colours with the iPhone. There is a lot of noise in the Z1 pictures, the Superior Auto mode is not getting things right, neither in focus, picture sharpness or colors.

I was expecting this camera to be very sharp and accurate, but i found out it's not near that. As per all the effort Sony has put in advertising the Z1 camera, i think we should get a software update and improve the camera a lot.

Do you think this is a software problem? Every Xperia Z1 review i've read points that out.

Perfectly Clear and Pixlr Express are the 2 apps that I'm using. They are brilliant, full of functions. Give it a try and tell me what you think.

In auto mode it doesn't use 20.7 mega pixel.

My is not 3 days old and the service center person are not agreeing with this problem. i took same picture from z1 and Nokia N97. after taking the picture when zoom. the picture taken by z1 gets spread... i should to all the customer who had came to repair there mobile in sony service centre, all of them agreed with this but service center say bring another z1 and show as the same..... such a bad thing....

Is so sad that i can take better pictures with my. Note 3 wo has lower hardware specs, perhaps better quality pieces or software sony is a joke.

Lexrg samsung has better image processing...sony is not so good

In rest the Z1 has much better camera hardware

Hi, my Xperia Z system got updated to 4.3.
WT... the display is blurry.. though i take HDR pics/videos, its blurry too..whats wrong with sony. somebody gotta help.. here is the pic i just took

Hi srinivaspalumari, when using HDR mode, you must keep the camera be firm and the target is not moving. It is not the problem but about how HDR works.

This is Swap'neal from Mumbai. I've bought the Xperia Z1 two week back. I'm disappointed with the camera performance of the device wtih was marketed as the best camera phone yet. My previous phone that is Xperia S took better pictures with a whole lot less of the noise captired by the Z1.

Sony has to come up with a solution of this problem soon so that the user that have spurged such a huge amount on this phone do got the axpected results.

Very disappointed from Z1 camera. It is only waste of money after buying this, I can't imagine how Sony can ignore such a problem instead of resolving this..
