Xperia Z1 camera - blurry pictures with noise and washed colours

Hi Everyone,

I'm a little concerned about the performance of the Xperia Z1 camera.

I had read already in some reviews that the pictures are not too sharp and the colours are washed, but now i have experienced it myself.

This camera should be way better than the camera in the iPhone 5, but i'm getting sharper images and more realistic colours with the iPhone. There is a lot of noise in the Z1 pictures, the Superior Auto mode is not getting things right, neither in focus, picture sharpness or colors.

I was expecting this camera to be very sharp and accurate, but i found out it's not near that. As per all the effort Sony has put in advertising the Z1 camera, i think we should get a software update and improve the camera a lot.

Do you think this is a software problem? Every Xperia Z1 review i've read points that out.

The camera is good in manual mode . Read some photography basics and you will get superb pics even in low light. And yes , a good software is still needed

Do you have suggestions for the Manual settings? I've tried virtualy everything, but I still can't manage a decent picture.

This is a picture taken with the QX10 lenses. Notice the colors......and this is with the Z1. I'm not questioning the quality, it's obvious that the lenses are making better pictures. But what I am asking is this - Where are the colours?!

Can we see a compare of the same subject in the same lighting conditions taken at the same time ?

Oh and no other camer app can set ISO manually besides the stock app. Sony does not provide access for it. Until such time you're not going to get much difference between stock & 3rd party apps.

My xperia is running on android 4.3 . 

the camera quality is rally bad .. 

noise and many other factors are present which ruin the image quality .

earlier 14.1.G.2.257 was the firmware on my phone which was awesome . the camera quality was excellent .

can i hope for an early update which improves the camera performance .

I can't believe that i own a 20.7 mp camera phone .

My phone is just 7 days old and i have same problem with the camera as all of you here.

It's a joke.

Where is official sony state about this problem?

Why they don't reply on this forum with any solution?

I've sent them email and they came back to me to reset the phone.

It was three days old. What kind of resetting they expect?

That is the worst camera in pnone which i've ever had. Even my HTC Sensation was taking better pictures.

I'm waiting another three days for any solution from Sony Care and if they won't satisfy me with solution i will sent the phone back to them.

It was the waste of £460 so far.

Hi all, this pictures are of my Z1. You can say, that they are normal and I agree, in day light they are normal, but in low light and indoor conditions, Z1 can't handle. It's really awfull :S Hope, KitKat update will solve this problem. I HOPE

I Bought my new Sony Xperia Z1 Eight Days Back,
20.7mp,Glens,Exmor rs Camera was the reason for me to buy the z1,

But Was Highly disappointed By the camera Quality.Camera is totaly crap,I'.m getting grainy pictures with Faded colours./

ITs Picture Quality should be better than any other phone but my old Samsung Galaxy Note2 Having just 8mp camera

takes a lot better pictures then the z1 20.7mp camera.This is a very very bad experience with sony.

Sony should do something about the camera quality.
this is the first and my last sony.Very Much Dissapointed.
No Meaning of buying a high end sony phone.Will not be recomended to any one.

Hope the next update will resolve the camera

Hi Rusty,  We are all facing the same problem. very disappointed after buying this high end crap.. we are shouting from a very long time but no responce from sony modeaters to resolve this issue.. very bad experience with sony smart phones....:-( Still waiting for new frameware update to resolve the camera issue.. but all the times sony fails to release the solution to overcome this proble....don't know they are not taking it seriously..

wish i read ur review before.. after buying sony z1 iam just having nightmares... missed n8 so much.. iam writing this with tears in my eyes and heart.. will never buy sony in my life time.. i got cheated so badly... my hard earned money is wasted.. i share ur grivence. if at all u get any improvement in camera, kindly contact me removed by alexdon.. iam too upset that none of the forum ever talked about this blur and noise.. sony is not worth even lumia 520... i wished it to atleast equal n8.. but it is only better than lumia 520.. iam crying dear....
