Hi Everyone,
I'm a little concerned about the performance of the Xperia Z1 camera.
I had read already in some reviews that the pictures are not too sharp and the colours are washed, but now i have experienced it myself.
This camera should be way better than the camera in the iPhone 5, but i'm getting sharper images and more realistic colours with the iPhone. There is a lot of noise in the Z1 pictures, the Superior Auto mode is not getting things right, neither in focus, picture sharpness or colors.
I was expecting this camera to be very sharp and accurate, but i found out it's not near that. As per all the effort Sony has put in advertising the Z1 camera, i think we should get a software update and improve the camera a lot.
Do you think this is a software problem? Every Xperia Z1 review i've read points that out.

You can check it on this link .
Can you upload the full resolutoin image as the exif info is not present in this photo ?
From initial looks it seems that ISO has been boosted so that's why you get the noise. Why did it boost the ISO ? because the light is insifficient. To get a better shot with lower ISO means shutter speed will drop. If shutter speed drops then there will be blur in the image. To avoid this you have rest your hands against something or lean your body against something. But there is an additional factor to consider here, the people are moving in that photo. They won't stand still. So you will blur them to get a clear image of the buildings. As it turns out there is no blur in the image as shutter speed was fast enough but to get that fast shutter speed at night means higher ISO and therefore more noise.
I cannot say more without examining the exifs.
Did anyone noticed that there is a tiny moment after you click the "Capture" button when it starts the focus to make the picture - the image is perfect, but when it shows the picture on the preview after that is much worst... I don't really know how to explain it correctly, it seems that the camera is actually able to take the perfect picture, but there is some messing around with the momentum of saving... Everyone, do me a favor and just take a picture, no matter in what setting and watch closely, you'll see what I'm talking about. If that's the problem - for me this is software and nothing more which means it CAN be fixed!
Yorkie i agree with you thats why i use pro capture

This is in very dark conditions exposure is set to +0.66 and night mode
I think the image quality suffers partly due to the camera software but I also think the lens is to blame. I have noticed extreme corner softness, see my post here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1/Camera-and-soft-corners/m-p/473319#M9051
I have also read reviews that also concluded the Z1 suffers from corner softness. Tried all the various settings and can't seem to get what I consider tack sharp photos, even in good lighting. Will try the ProCapture app that others have suggested.
Does anyone else have a problem with their camera? My pics all look like they have a fog around them???? I'm not a happy teddy bear!!!
