The software update failed !!

Hi,

I got a notification yesterday on my sony Xperia Z3, asking for an update using Sony PC Companion, i did it and then it said that a network problem has occured, and from that point on, when i try to power the phone it says " the software update failed, make sure the phone is connected to the computer and try again "

I tried the "power button + volume up" when charging, the phone started powering on and off all the time and after an hour it got really hot ! I was so scared so I unplugged it. An now i ran out of solutions. 

Please tell me I didn't lose my 1 month old Z3 already, please.

You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion.The process will erase all internal memory.You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

Well, I did everything you told me (3 hours charge...). When i get to the step 3 (updating...) an Error pops out, Error 100.

I have no firewall nor Antivirus activated, and I do have the last Java update. Did I miss something?

You could try on a different computer or maybe try with a flashtool.

I really thought my Z3 is done.

Tried on another PC and it worked perfectly !!!!

It's asking me to connect my z3 to desktop for updates but I don't have desktop pc so how do I update? Please help

You need a PC/MAC for larger updates.
