When my alarm rings in the morning (or any other time in fact) the screen becomes completely unresponsive, meaning I cannot use the slider to turn it off. The only solution I have found is to push the power button repeatedly try to get to the normal lock screen (which is also unresponsive at first) and mess around until that lets me unlock the phone go to the settings screen and turn the alarm off. Or simply reset the phone. This is a horrible way to wake up in the morning.
I have tested the alarm after turning off the Smart Connect "Night" setting, and I have also deleted all the clock app data, but the problem persists.
The alarm clock worked fine at first - it happened a couple of times, but has now happened for the last four mornings in a row or whenever I test the alarm during the day.
Does anyone know what's going on?

Hello,
I encountered a similar problem in the morning. (the phone is 1 week old)
I can't really describe what happened because my eyes were still stuck but the only way to stop the alarm was to turn off the phone.
The phone has no case on it.
Smart connect "night" is ON when charging.
the "clock" notification is ON
The side buttons are set to repeat mode.
The phone tells that my software is up to date (4.4.2 - buid 14.3.A.0.757)
When the alarm was ringing, there was no red button on the screen to turn it off, the side buttons didnt stop it.
Even the ON/OFF button in the alarm setting page had no effect.
I finally turned OFF the phone.
I have to investigate deeper but It could be good if we had a patch for this issue.
best regards
hi,
same problem here with my brand new z1 compact, is there any update about this problem ?
sony care about this ?
I have the exact same problem - New Xperia Z2 worked fine day one. By around 3 days old the "dismiss" side buttons do nothing and neither does the lock screen which is set to turn alarm off. The phone unlocks but the alarm keeps ringing. All software is up to date and I have tried deleting the alarms, re adding them and changing settings in them. The only way I can turn my alarm off is either to shut the phone down or close the clock app. Closing the clock app anly works if it is running in the app list. If the clock app is not running I can start it by clicking on the clock icon and then when I close it the alarm will turn off.
Sony this is a pretty basic smartphone function and should be bulletproof - please let us know how to fix it.
I have just bought a Z2. Really pleased until day 2 when i couldn't turn off the alarm anymore (unless I powered down the phone).
Just read all correspondance on this. Did as 143Adam suggested (Settings/Personalisation/Manage Notifications/ All) and turned the Clock and Clocks notifications back on.
Now I have the slide bar back and I can turn the alarm off - perfect.
Ty so much u solved this issue. The solution is enable notification for the clock.

Nice one ... your solution worked for me 🙂 .. with one small addition. when i first entered Personalisation/Manage Notifications. I could not see the Clock App ... but only 'RECENT' apps were visible, 'DOWNLOADED' tab, still no Clock app. Then I selected 'ALL' and by magic the Clock app appeared, then I just enabled it and tried an alarm and my swipe right to turn off appeared again!!
I have just got a Z1 compact and the alarm will not turn off. The only way to turn it off is to turn off the power with the power button.
I have gone into settings, and set the side switch to dismiss, but that doesnt work
Nothing swipes to the right at all
There is no button which says snooze
Its really irritating, had a BB for years and years and just swapped to Sony, now Im missing my faithful BB that has woke me up perfectly every morning for decades!
I have read all the forums and nothing works.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
THIS WORKS !!!
Thanx.

Try going to Personalisation/Manage Notifications. I seen that I had the Clock App as set to disabled. Just enabled it and tried an alarm and my swipe right to turn off finally appeared again!!
Hope this helps...
