Linking Vaio to TV

Hi all,

I am trying to hook up my Vaio FE11H to the TV.

I have used the s-video port from the laptop going to the s-video on tv. I am seeing a black and white picture and no sound.

Can any recommended the best way to sort this problem out? I am a novice when it comes to setting it up so a quick run down would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks

First of all you need to be sure that the standard TV settings are the right one - I think you need to change this standard from NTSC (in US and Japan) to PAL B or Pal D. If you still have this kind of problems after this changes, let me know.

I got the s-video to s-video to work ok, but I don't get the sound on the tv.

Instead I get the sound coming from the laptop, but the tv is silent.

Got a 3.5mm to L-R adapter connected to the headphone out, and then the L-R's from the adapter connected to the L-R on the tv.

Am I missing a setting or something?

Tried to delete the post above but wasn't allowed due to it being older than 0 days.

Anyway, problem solved. Plugging the speaker stuff into the correct holes really help :smileyblush:

Hi friedbergdvah and welcome.

I think you need a normal D-Sub 15-pin Monitor Cable like this one: -

http://www.amazon.co.uk/HD15M-Quality-Monitor-Extension-Cable/dp/B000747OFS/ref=pd_bbs_6?ie=UTF8&s=g...

If you want sound, you will need to connect your headphone socket to your TV audio in. You will need something like this: -

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Profigold-BA-PGA3402-Stereo-Audio-3-5mm/dp/B0000BX71S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=g...

Hi there,

I have the same problem with the black and white picture in my TV. I connect my Vaio FZ with the Tv via S-video (S-video out to S-video input -my tv has S-video input-), and the tv has black and white picture. It is strange because I bought my laptop on august, and I could watch Tv perfectly, but I have this problem since December.
I have try a lot of things, and it is more strange: When I install a new driver for the Nvidia 8400m gt (original driver, new driver from Vaio Update, drivers from laptopvideo2go) the first time I start the laptop, I have color on my Tv; but when I reestart the Laptop, the color has gone: It is again a black and white picture in my Tv. And it is a problem been installing a driver when I want to watch a film in my Tv.
The signal configuration is Ok ( Nvidia Control Panel launch an S-video PAL b/g signal -I am from Spain, sorry for my english-), so I Think that the problem could be the configuration of Windows Vista or Nvidia Control Panel, something I have touch, but I don´t know what.

Apreciate your help.

P.D.: If you have the B&W Tv problem, try to reinstall a driver (whatever for your Nvidia graphics card); maybe you could watch a color picture on your Tv the first time you reestart, like me.
