Xperia Sola not starting after 6.0.b.3.184 upgrade

Hi All,

I have bought xperia sola a month back i was satisfied with this product till now except few lackness like old headset not supported etc.

But two days ago my actual problem has started this device has giving me errors for "Process com sonyericsson.process.eventstream has stopped unexpectedly" there was no single application that was not giving the error including "facebook.katana" "process.conversation""process.messaging" "process.media" everything, in short the whole phone was misbehaving.

Then i read one of your discussions stating that an update may fix all such aforesaid problems.I followed all the steps which the update process mentioned .Gone through PC companion , prepared computer , installed updates on my PHONE, when PC companion alerted me that "MY PHONE IS SUCCESSFULLY UPDATED" i need now to disconnect the phone from computer and then after 5 seconds or so it will get started " THE PHONE WILL TAKE MORE TIME TO START AFTER THE UPDATE AND THE LOGO MIGHT APPEAR SEVERAL TIMES"......

For the max of my terror and dis belief the phone has not started yet....even for more than 12 hours it has continued to do the same......"MY PHONE IS STILL SHOWING SONY LOGO AND THEN TEND TO RESTART AGAIN"......

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO GET THE PHONE WORKING AGAIN....WHAT WAS THE SERIES OF "UNEXPECTEDLY BUGS" ....WHY IS MY PHONE NOT STARTING.....PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I DISTRUST SONY FOR EVER....

PLEASE HELP ME GUYS....

As long as the PCC shows you the Update it means the Update is Genuine for your Phone :smileyhappy:.
It does mean nothing that your Phone is imported, i'll also say that this is good because several phones from india haven't got ICS (yet?). At least this is what i've heard!

I would recommend you to Update via SUS with Reset + Update if you're ready for ICS.
It may perform faster with the Reset but backup all the data you want first :smileywink:.

Let me know your decision!

Hi Milito,

I would love to update my mobile to 4.0 , if u r confident enough that this is genuine why should i be hving any issues.

I have concerns about SUS as i dont know how Reset + Update can be done.....please suggest me the steps for that.....
One important thing that i want to know is how can i get the backup of my DATA..... is there any software available.....in case please do let me know ............

Is it ok to update phone to 4.0 i meean i have heard about problems after the update e.g.. camera ,etc...please guide me friend.

Thanks

By 99% you will not have any issues. It was a motherboard failure right?
The update comes from Sony so you don't have anything to worry about :smileyhappy:.
On SUS you just pick your Phone when it asks, connect your Phone (it shows how it's done) and then you pick "Reset + Update" (or something like that). Easy as that!

For backup i would recommend you to sync your contacts with your Gmail account.
Also, is the "Back up & restore" App available on GB? If it does, pick the Apps you wanna backup.
I'd recommend to backup only the System Applications (Contacts, Messaging, Calendar etc, except the Settings). Now if you do wanna backup more apps you're free to do so :smileywink:.

"Is it ok to update phone to 4.0 i mean i have heard about problems after the update e.g.. camera ,etc..."
As long as you perform the Reset + Update you should be good. If anything happens you may hand it to a Sony Center for a Fix. Don't worry.

Keep me updated!

Previously as you know i was having problems like Facebook.Katana has stopped unexpectedly and Sony.eventscreenand lots of UNEXPECTEDLY bugs were coming hence i decided to update my phone as PCC was showing an update, but later my mother board was failed when i updated my mobile.

My prime concern is the backup of my data.....including "Call List", COntacts Messages,Songs and Images etc.... will all my installed apps get lost too????? coz i have installed some games and some useful mobile appliications as well ?

Because GB doesn't come along with any "BackUp and Restore " Thing.....................

will p[erform the Reset+Update ASAP....after i am assured that nothing bad is going to happen to my mobile.....

One more imp question ... let's say i have upgraded my mobile to ICS from GB and because of some prob... i want GB on my mobile back again.... so can i Downgrade my sola to GB(android 2.3) again.......??????????

Backup your data with PC Companion. Pick the Contacts Sync and the Backup option just to be sure. Backup your Contacts too on the Internal Memory/SD Card.
Copy your Songs and your Images to your PC, just in case. I think the internal memory will not be erased, ONLY the Phone Memory (the one you don't have access to if you don't root).
And yes, all the apps will be lost if you perform the Reset + Update. You can find them in your Download History in Google Play (via the Website or the App itself).

"will perform the Reset+Update ASAP....after i am assured that nothing bad is going to happen to my mobile....."
As long as you don't get errors with your Phone right now and eveything works like a beast you don't have to worry. You have the warranty to cover you :smileyhappy:.

"One more imp question ... let's say i have upgraded my mobile to ICS from GB and because of some prob... i want GB on my mobile back again.... so can i Downgrade my sola to GB(android 2.3) again.......??????????"

They might downgrade it for you over at a Sony Center. Not sure for that tho, i've heard many things for the 2011 family and the Downgrade.

Now i think there's an Unofficial way on the Forums here AND over at XDA for the Downgrade.

Be careful tho, flashing your Phone might void your Warranty because the Rom might not be the same as your phone has installed right now.

This might help you make a decision: http://developer.sonymobile.com/2012/03/30/learn-about-the-technical-differences-between-gingerbread...

Hi Milito,

Friend Hope you are doing well,

Today i have come across a little problem hope is that you will help me out of this ASAP.

Actually there is a peculiar noise in the background i am listening when i call or i get called by someone, i tried to reduce the incall volume and after reducing the incall volume this BACKGROUND NOISE settled down but i have to compromise with less volume for incoming calls actually this sound is very annoying, only this morning i felt that otherwise i had no problems before.I think when i was sleeping my phone got lapsed from my bed to floor , but i dont think that could create a big buzz here as my bad is hardly 2 feets above the floor.

I have restarted my phone but it is giving the same problem, it sounds like the SPEAKERS usually sound when they are beyond BASS capacity i am just giving example so that u can understand about the noise .

What do you think what should i do, this is not a big problem i know but it is definitely VERY ANNOYING as u call and u listen this u cannot concentrate.

PLEASE help me out friend.

Thanks

Try the Xperia™ Function Tester. Test your speaker, the one you have the problem and let me know.

Hi Milito,

Hope you are doing great friend.

Subsequent to your advise, i have updated my mobile to ICS.

I am very happy to have used ICS on my sola, but to my disappointment i have come across below mentioned severe issues, and again i need you valuable advises.

1] The MOST IMP : 3G is not working fine in the mobile :- The moment i turned on the Data traffic i am not finding the 3G/H icon with Up and Down arrows besides the Network symbol in the notification area of mobile, now i am seeing only up and down arrows on the network marker, and more importantly it is not working like 3G as my mobile use to fly in GB it is taking minutes in downloading 1 mb file as previously it was a matter of seconds.

2]The camera feature of ICS now is lacklusture as compare to the one available in GB , it doesnot have scene selection options like sports, landscape, night landscape etc. .The one in GB had so many options and features which are currently unavailable here in camera, yes they are available in video mode.

3]The battery backup has degraded far below now i have to charge my phone almost two to three times a day.

4]The lock on the main screen in GB consisted first sliding and then password pattern , which has important functions like sound on off and music pause play, this doesnt have the said function.

Can you please suggest me what should i do to get rid of aforesaid problems.

Thanks in Advance

Nishant.....

Hello!

1) Under Settings > More... > Mobile networks > Network Mode, make sure you are using "WCDMA (preferred)/GSM" or even better to force it on "WCDMA only". Give it a try with "WCDMA only" and tell me.

2) When you're in Camera mode tap the "SCN AUTO" on the left corner and pick "Normal", then press the Menu Key and press on "Scenes". I hope that's what you're searching for :smileywink:.

3) Make sure under brightness settings you have checkmarked the "Adapt to lighting conditions" and set the brightness to very low. I know it's irritating but that's the way the phone will "survive" longer.
Also under Power management > Battery, make sure there are no power-hog apps.
I'd like a screenshot after the battery charge reaches about 20%.
You might wanna use Extended Standby Mode under Power management if your phone is way too much time in standby and not connected to the internet (3G/WiFi).

4) You can't get rid of this. I have one thing to say for this, it's a pain in the ass when you have to unlock the phone fast or a couple of times after it locks. I know that you miss several functions but it's way faster!
On my phone (Xperia P) i have Face Unlock. Imagine me pressing the unlock button, sliding the lock, waiting for the phone to capture my face and if it fails to have to enter the password to unlock it. Just imagine it :smileysilly:. All i have to do now is press the unlock key and wait, if it fails just enter the password and i'm done. As for the functions i have "Notification Toggle" to easily toggle everything (after the phone unlocks)!

Hey Milito ,

Thanks a lot....Point 2] and 3] are now cleared 4] we can't help it .

But i am about to comment about the most IMP point 1] the 3G speed is still way beyond it was in GB, i did try the sugestions mentioned by you related to WCDMA only mode.

I neither saw 3G nor H and the speed is not as good as 2G i used to have in GB.
i was so happy with 3G that i am thinking to get GB back again on my phone but before that i want a thorough demonstration of ICS onto my mobile.
Can sony Service center guys can get GB back on to my phone without hassle?

can i get face recognition app in xperia sola?
