I missed a call from somebody today, and when I touched the "Phone" application to find out the time of the call, I got the following message:
"The application Contacts (process com.sonyericsson.android.social phonebook has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I now get this message every time I attempt to use the phonebook, which basically means I can no longer make calls. I can still receive calls, and everything else seems to work okay.
Shutting down the phone and re-starting it did not fix the problem.

Hi,
After reading messages from all of you guys, it seems as you got a problem after you updated/installed one of the following aplications: Google +, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Facebook.
For advanced users:
Could anyone provide a log of the crash, please?
How to fetch the log on the device: http://developer.android.com/tools/help/logcat.html
I have the same problem but I havent recently downloaded any of the apps mentioned in the above posts. Can someone in Sony answer our problem please
I haven't intentionally updated anything, but it's possible that Facebook or Google+ might have auto-updated.
I don't use LinkedIn, and removing WhatsApp and Google+ didn't fix the problem for me. It seems to have for some people though.
Furthermore, Google+ was automatically re-installed.
I just checked, and I do have the option to update it, so it looks like Facebook isn't auto-updating.
I had the same problem since this morning, uninstalled google+ and updated all applications (facebook, viber etc). After re-starting the phone, started to work
Ok, seems like some other application makes you trouble in that case.
Let's try like this:
(Since most of the application are in sync, you should not lose any of your data. Of course, be cautious and don't delete something very important to you.).
Post the results, please.
The only ones that I have that I can think of are Facebook, and everything Google related (including Google+). None of those will let me uninstall them completely.
Either way, no joy. I tried uninstalling all of the updates from everything that has updates but the problem remains.
I think Facebook is the main problem, I had unistall all apps and the problem remains, but I do the following step:
from setting, accounts & sync settings then remove all accounts except gmail account.
phonebook well work, when I try to add facebook account again the problem appears again
I had remove facebook account and now my phone is working well
