I missed a call from somebody today, and when I touched the "Phone" application to find out the time of the call, I got the following message:
"The application Contacts (process com.sonyericsson.android.social phonebook has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I now get this message every time I attempt to use the phonebook, which basically means I can no longer make calls. I can still receive calls, and everything else seems to work okay.
Shutting down the phone and re-starting it did not fix the problem.

Hi all,
my husband also faced the same problem and we found the solution in other forum and it seems to work- uninstalled google+ apps .
Give urself a try and hopefully it works too..

Update: I've also tried accessing a contact via the Text Messaging menu, and get the following message:
"The application Infinite view (process com.sonyeriksson.infiniteview) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
The contact in question has a Blue Yonder email address listed in the text message options. Interestingly, when I select a contact in text messaging who doesn't also have an email address, I can access their number in this way and dial out as normal.
So it seems it's not the phone itself, but something to do with the contacts list, or call history. Possibly even a specific contact - maybe something's gone wrong with whatever allows you to access external email addresses. Either way, whatever the fault is is blocking my access to the dialler, which means I can't dial any numbers which I don't already have as a contact, add or modify any contacts, or access the call history.
eta: fiza, do you have a link to the forum where you found that solution?
Hi Suburbun_fox,
Here is the link to that forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313713
Hi, I have the same problem just started last night, have uninstalled Google+ which has given me some apps back but
still can't get into my contacts same error message about phonebook. No fix from Sony yet?
Uninstalling Google+ didn't do it for me. Also, as I've been typing this, Google+ has just re-installed itself again, so it could be an auto-update issue (I haven't changed anything in between it working and it stopping working).
If it's a known issue, and Sony are working on a fix, it'd be nice to know if that was the case.
Hi, I have the same problem from this morning. Please, I would like to know what is happening, Sony's staff should know something about, please don't keep silence, this is not a minor problem, is really serious.
Hi guys! I had the exact same problem since yestersday.
The way I got it to work again was uninstalling a particualr app, in my case it was "CLEAN MASTER", the free version. Maybe when I deleted something with that app o when I use it to clean my phone it secrew something up.
Try uninstalling app that are for cleaning and such, or go by one by one!
Hope it works for you!
Vicky
I am experiencing the same problem since last night, tried turning off, taking battery out, uninstalling apps etc and no luck. Annoying
Since yesterday am unable to access contacts and am getting above error message. It works fine if i uninstall whatsapp. Please provide a resolution as soon as possible
That didn't work for me either.
I would like to know if Sony are aware of this problem, and are looking into it, as our phones are currently not fit for their purpose. I realise that it may take time, but it would be nice if they'd at least let us know that they're aware of it.
