Sony Xperia Z5 Dual not charging

I have 2 Xperia Z5 dual phones and one of them is not charging. It was at 1% when I put it to charge and the phone makes a sound when the charger is connected. When I checked the power consumption area in settings while unplugged it said discharging when plugged in it said not charging. Now the phone turned off at 0% and still not charging in the off mode but the screen comes on and says 0%.

I have tried multiple chargers and cables on both phones and they all work on one and not the other. Multiple ratings of chargers as well,0.85A, 1A, 1.5A and 2A. I think it might be a hardware issue but it's difficult to return as I live in a different country from where I bought it. If I have to send it back I will.

After playing around a bit I've found that squeezing the upper part of the phone starts charging it so it may just be a lemon. I've decided to return it and get a new one. The other one I have is working fine and I like the design.

Hi @Dvus,

I'm sorry to hear that. Slightly_frowning_Face

I suggest that you try forcing a power off using the button found behind the SIM and memory card cover, then try charging the phone again. Check here for more information.

Hi,

I used my phone to take a short video in the pool for a total time of 5 mins. collectively.

The battery was low. then the phone ran out of battery.

I waited for an hour or so and made sure the chargin port is dry and dried the whole phone before pluging it into charger.

I pluged it in and it started charging, when it reached 5%, I switched the phone on. it worked fine, but then the phone kept loosing the charging signal till it died again.

I replugged the charger, it charged till 1% then it stopped charging no sign of charging nothing. Tried other chargers and same resulf.

When I try to switch the phone on it gives a low batter sign on the screen and goes off.

Sny idea what is going on? Is there ant step I can try to charge it properly.

Hi @Mokady, I'm very sorry to hear this. Slightly_frowning_Face

I'm afraid it sounds like your device is in need of repair. I recommend that you contact your Local support team for information on where you can find an authorised service center near you.

I seem to be having issues with my z5 premium dual. I always charge my phone when I go to bed so that when I wake up in the morning,it's fully charged for the day.last night I put it on charge but when I woke this morning, my phone was still at 4%. After playing about with the phone and the charging cable trying to find out why it didn't charge,I even got a clean makeup brush and dusted the phone charging connector and cables connector in case that was causing the phone not to charge, but it still didn't work. After a bit more investigating,I've noticed that when I connect the charging cable to the phone, the charging light comes on but the moment I move the cable or the phone (normally as soon as I let go of putting the charging cable into the phone) the light goes out and the charging stops.its almost like a dirty connection,it charges when I'm holding the cable in place but as soon as I let go the connection is lost. I have managed to get my phone charging for the moment as I've very carefully placed the phone and cable together and slowly let go of the cable and phone to get the connection, but could it be that the charging port on the phone has somehow come loose or has become damaged?( even though I charged the phone the night before with no issues) I have read of some people saying that they have had to "wiggle" the charging cable to get their phone to charge and others say they had to send the phone for repair as the phone wouldn't charge. I don't want to send the phone off and i then get told there's nothing wrong when there clearly is. Any help or advice would be appreciated 😊

Hi @Tazzie21, sorry to hear this. Slightly_frowning_Face

I'm afraid that based on your description, this appears to be hardware related and your device is in need of service. You can contact your Local support team for more information on where you can find an authorised service center and how to proceed with this if need be.

Thanks for the info. I have been using a new USB charging cable and so far all seems ok. I will still look at taking my phone to my nearest Sony service centre in the new year and get them to check my phone anyway, just incase. Better safe then sorry...lol
