Dear Sony,
Thank you for the latest Marshmallow update. I do notice there is no badge count anymore (unread message count icon). Is this going to be fixed? Is there a fix already? Is there a work around?
Kind regards,
Flint

Hi @Flint-,
This is because the API used by the application is obsolete. The new API will be communicated to third-party app developers and will require implementation on the their side.

Hi Christofer,
Thank you for the quick reply. So what does that mean?
@Flint- In short it means that app developers needs to update their apps so that they are using our new API instead of the old one that is obsolete.
Okay guys, thanks for the heads up.
Kind regards, Flint

Hi,
I am having the same issue regarding badge count on all apps having disappeared after the Marshmallow update. From the previous comments I note that Sony states that this problem is something that the third party apps have to correct. But on the Whatsapp support / FAQ website for example, they have said that this is a feature provided by the phone manufacturer. And this seems to have been a question for some months already. Can anybody provide a workable solution without having to download more apps and third party home screens....?
Thanks
I have an Xperia Z2 and use the Nine email client from 9folders and there response was "Sony does not support the unread counts badge APIs on Android 6.0 anymore. Thus, the unread counts badge is not working. It is unable to be controlled by Nine."
So either Sony or 9folders have the information incorrect.
One user @Quester has claimed in another thread now closed that WhatsApp badges work for him on MM. Can anyone confirm? They definitely do not work for me.
By the way, the way Sony has managed this change is totally ridiculous. They have changed an API and from what I read here they didn't even notify developers before releasing the 6.0 update. Considering that MM support was announced by Sony something like 8 months ago, this story really shows how amateurish Sony has become in its phone business.
