As soon as I updated to Marshmallow, I keep getting the "Unfortunately Google Play Store has stopped..." and the message keeps coming up every 5 seconds.
I tried clearing the cache, deleting data, uninstalling, disabling the app, force closing, signing out of google and back on.
Does not work.
I keep getting the pop up non-stop and it happened as SOON as it updated to Marshmallow.

You are right, but in many cases the culprit is more the OS than Sony itself.
Android is like Ubuntu or Windows: widely used and personalized over a miriad of different devices, by purpose, hardware age and specs. And every brand has to do something to appeal the audience towards their product instead of the Google's stock OS version, or knee to the nexus standard and simply produce things "the Google way".
Apple irons out problem producing less items in a limited ecosystem of three operating systems. You have less degree of freedom but devices work very well, usually right out of the box, and when they don't the support is outstanding.
Downside of iPhone? Try to save a file on a thumb drive, copy a song from it. And if you want fm radio you have to buy an iPod nano too.
Downside of Android? The above works like a charm but sometimes things are so screwed up that is amazing to see how they are so screwed up.
Again, this is a user based forum, I haven't experienced such issue, so that's great for me, as to why you experienced that issue, no one knows, there could be myriad reasons, at the end of the day, you can either get a different brand if you feel cheated by Sony, which you shouldn't, you could be more objective and focus on solving the problem, which we are trying to do here, you can also contact Sony directly with your feedback >>> Local support
It looks like this issue is occuring across multiple Marshmallow devices, not just Xperia devices or the Z5 series.
Some of the suggestions to fix this are as follows.
1. Clear the data of the Play Store. To do this on your Z5:
Go to Settings > Apps > > Show system > Google Play Store > Storage > Clear Data.
2. Disable location services. To do this on your Z5:
Go to Settings > Location > Move the slider to the Off position.
3. Reinstall the Android system.
To do this on an Xperia device, please follow the steps here.
I'm in the middle of trying to figure this out too. We have 2 Xperia Z5's that just updated today, on Bell. Both aren't working with the Play Store. Tried uninstalling updates & restarting the phone so far. Didn't want to make a new topic for the same issue as this...
Can you please supply the error message that displays?
When I go to Clear Data, it says its going to delete all files, etc. Is that okay to do?
Its doing the exact same thing, comes up with "Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped working"
