As soon as I updated to Marshmallow, I keep getting the "Unfortunately Google Play Store has stopped..." and the message keeps coming up every 5 seconds.
I tried clearing the cache, deleting data, uninstalling, disabling the app, force closing, signing out of google and back on.
Does not work.
I keep getting the pop up non-stop and it happened as SOON as it updated to Marshmallow.

If you are still on the new broken Marshamllow firmware on your Xperia Z5, and want to format reset you phone, DON'T use the Sony PC Companaion on your PC to repair your phone, otherwise you will be downgraded back to the old firmware and your backup won't work! Since Sony pulled the Marshmallow push update, the Sony PC Companion app takes the most recent version being 5.1.1 (Lolipop) and uses that to reset and restore your phone. That's why some of you guys are having those issues...
Instead (if possible, for those of you who haven't already downgraded) go on Factory Data Reset option under Settings>Backup & Reset on your phone, so that the phone formats itself using its current firmware (Android 6.0). This should stop you from being downgraded after doing a facotry reset, and fix all the current errors you have with the Google Play/ UI. For more details read my long post from last week.
I, too, tried installing the apk, but to no avail.
I've been following this thread, and any other info I can. It seems like our only viable option
is to wait for this 'update', and just keep pressing 'okay' when that pesky error comes up.
I'm not resetting my phone.
That next software update you were talking about, is it 21.1.A.1.185 released yesterday? Or there will be some majorer update?
I had similar problem with Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. After upgrading to Android 6.0.1 Google Play Market was unaccessible. The program just crashed without any notification from the system. After playing around I added permissions to use memory for all applications including Google Play Services. Then, after a few attempts, Google Play Services could be downloaded and installed... I'm not sure but probably the main reason was that some applications data were relocated to SD card before upgrade to Android 6.0.1 and new system introduced some additional rules for accessing SD card, so Google Play Services just could not store something in SD card without additional permissions and crashed.
There was a update released this morning on Bell... anyone do it? Did it fix this problem? I'm kind of scared if its going to make my phone worse, lol.
I'm on Bell. I just clicked on updates and got an "Xperia system update" automatically download.
I'm going to click on "install", with fingers crossed.
UPDATE: My phone installed, rebooted, and so far so good!
just finished updading to build 32.1.A.1.185 using Xperia Companion and all seems good.
