I do understand that this is how Sony intended it to work.
But I do think that it **bleep**, big time. No other company has implemented it this way and in the past it Sony’s implementation has not worked like this either.
So Sony has all of the sudden done a new interpretation on how lock screen and notification should work. Whish goes against their former logic as well as everyone else’s.
From that point of view it is not a bug (perhaps there is a bug in a build that makes it work and that everyone is happy with).
I am VERY disappointed that Sony does not listens to their customers. I have not spoken to anyone who agrees with the Sony way.
So Sony, pleas listen to your loyal customers, otherwise this will be the last Sony phone I’ll ever buy. And Sony has to start listen to their customers if they want to boost sales.
Hi guys.
I'm expiriencing the same problem - no notifications at all when using ActiveSync Exchange connector with Lollipop on Xperia Z3.
For the test, I asked my friend with Z3 Compact to add his activesync account and his notification immediately stopped to work. After removal everything works fine. Also, everyone here is talking about that the problem only involves all Xperia Z3's, but no other Lollipop devices - so we're 100% sure that there's a bug or issue in Sony's software. I'm pretty sure that it's not an intended feature, maybe it would be when only ActiveSync e-mail notofications were not shown, but not all other (calls, messages, etc.). Good for me that Z3 is my private (but I used calendar sync from my job...), and I have a Z1 that works fine with ActiveSync.
I'm using build .690 and on sony's update page (via smartphone menu) it also says that .690 is the newest version for me (PL, Plus).
I made a ticket on sony's support contact page about this case (with link to this thread) 2 days ago, now waiting for answer.
Please create tickets there too, more tickets = faster resolvment of the issue.
By the way, I had 3 Xperia Z's (Z, and not Z1 + Z3) but after this kind of problems im considering a change within the next smartphone. Sony's support is a tragic comedy (not mentioning the service point in Poland).
thanks and keep updated!!
I can confirm this worked with the new build. I did have to uninstall my
exchange email then re-configure after I upgraded to the new build but I
can now get my notifications while the screen is locked.
Oddlly, my phone said no update available but when I hooked it up it did. Then got the new build, installed, removed Exchange, re-installed Exchange bingo.
Does anyone know if the 726 build has been rolled out to any Z2 users yet?
Though using Mailwise is an ok workaround, I would like to return to using the stock email application.

Looks like 726 is now also available for the Z2.

Same issue at my work place. Our compact z3 phones are pretty much useless notification wise. Glad to hear the 726 build fixes this. Unfortunately this build has not yet reached our phones yet. We are not allowed to flash the phones ourselves (company policy). Needles to say - but this has of course warranted a full stop for all Sony phone purchases.
Hi,
This is a reply to the Thommo- Moderator message.
I created this new thread thursday evening (Europe time) specifically in the Z1 Compact forum so Z1 Compact users would know where to look for more info. Unfortunately, the post is now in the Z3 forum in the thread I was referring to.
Not everyone uses Search, some people just look at thread headers to determine if a thread is useful.
@Thommo wrote:Customers are only angry because they don't understand how things work - I'm not Sony but we have tried to explain things but this falls on deaf ears
This is the most ignorant post in the whole thread. The no notification lock screen is a bug, period.
This very serious problem, other small bugs and a generally more laggy experience with Z3C updated with Lollipop will make me go to an iPhone for the first time. The very uncooperative Sony support is making me to take the plunge.
