Thank you. I did not come across this thread previously. Will give it a try, but after reading the thread, I believe this is a bug that Sony needs to fix with an update.
I continue to have the same issue. All of this worked before. Having to manually un-lock your screen just to see if I have an email or text is really bad.
Sorry if i was unclear. I'm talking about our update, not Lollipop in general or other brands.
The support for ActiveSync is not the same in all phones with Android.
But i assure you that i've done what i can and forwarded your feedback internally.
As many people already pointed our, this little "feature" makes the phone almost unusable.
Here is what I think has been going down.
In Android, there is a security setting called "allow widgets on lock screen". The e-mail application can control this setting if it is set as administrator (which it will be if you are using activesync).
In a previous version, Sony looked at this and said "what shall we do with this setting if activesync requires a PIN-lock"? They decided that the email application should then disable lock-screen widgets, so that no one can see your messages etc on a locked phone. Note that activesync security policies say nothing about lock-screen widgets, so this is entirely up to Sony at this point.
Then the lollipop update comes. Lock screen widgets are gone, and replaced by lock screen notifications. Android (google, not sony) starts to interpret "disallow lock screen widgets" as "disallow lock screen notifications".
Meanwhile, Sony does nothing to the email application, but now, instead of preventing widgets, it prevents lock screen notifications. While the phone is usable without lock screen widgets, it becomes pretty much unusable without lock screen notifications.
Solution: Release an update to the Email application, where PIN-lock no longer automatically means no lock screen widgets.
(It could be the other way around though, that google interprets PIN-lock as no lock screen widgets, and Sony interprets no lock screen widgets as no lock screen notifications. In this case I suppose an update to the whole operating system is needed).
Allright people, seems like a new update is being rolled out to Z3/Z3 Compact, anybody who got it that can tell us if it corrects this bug?

If it doesn't... well I'll guess the Moto X is gonna replace my Z3 compact...
Best explanation yet. Let's hope it's right and they can now resolve this. I HATE having to unlock my screen every time just to see if I have an email, text or antyhing else.
Hi, i had the same problem when I upgraded my Z3 Compact to Lolipop. I had the same problem where no notification showed up on the lock screen with MS Exchange set up on the phone. Today I tried deleting Email from Device Administrators list and then setting up the MS Exchange account again. By doing this I suddenly able to get notifications on my lock screen. You guys might want to try this.
