headset not supported? with the Sony headset that came with the phone...

Issue in the topic thread.

The headset that comes with the phone can stop and start the music (button pushing) when its playing through the speaker, but when i remove the headset it says "headset not supported. ..."

Running the latest software as far as i know: 14.3.A.0.681

I wanted this phone to be my iPod replacement... so the headphone jack working is a big deal and killing me now.. No headset that i have tried has worked, not once. The phone is a week old only and has not been anywhere near water so i don't think it's water damager.

Other thoughts:

- it looks like the flash bleed can be fixed with a sharpie.

- battery lasts a long time with heavy screen on time.

This is how i fixed the problem on my sony Z1 after trying every thing else suggested on site. Get some cleaning agent like alcohol and spray it into the  head phone socket and some on the original sony headphone jack then plug the head phone in and restart the phone. if you can't fine alcohol to spray just use any perfume or clone. Good luck

I get this message every few seconds: "headset not supported. Visit sony....." message even if there isn't any plugged headsets on my phone

Have done the following:
- Go to Settings -> Apps -> Smart Connect -> Force stop, Unistall updates, Clear data.
- Go to your Play Store and update Smart Connect again.

Still the same problem. Driving me nuts....
Please help!!

From time to time my Z1C shows error messages of an unsupported headset. It's a pop-up window, which closes itself after approximately 1 second. This repeats itself a couple of times, in a totally arbitrarily fashion. I do not possess any headset (except a Bluetooth intercom in my car) and these errors occur even if it's miles away.
Is my phone damaged? My first instinct was, that some app might be trying to access the phones microphone. But since I read about people receiving this message while plugging in their headset, I believe it has to be something else...

Deleting data and clearing cache in Smart Connect did not work. I also hard reset it. Have a Xperia Z3

Any additional suggestions???

Please help, thanks!

I had to remove all updates of the Smart connect couple of times and then it worked. Now when I get the error I just restart the phone.
