The receivers always hear an echo from my phone, and the soud quality is bad.
I tried to change all the sound settings available, nothing works.
Anyone had same issue already ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I've talked to my carrier and they said it could be the so called HD-voice feature that makes the phonecalls sound different. But how do they explain the static noise/buzzing in the background of any call? No, they couldn't. And also they couldn't identify the static noise (which is bull***t, because it is there). All my firends and family can hear it too.
I will be returning my second Z2 this afternoon and hopefully I'll pick up one that acctually works. (Or not...)
Support called me to tell me mine was ready. I'll get it today, and will post here what was wrong.
Even if it is longer, i'd suggest to send it to Xperia Care support, becasue with a direct exchange, you cloud receive another Z2 having the same issue.
i donot have this problem and i do have all the features on excluding slowtalk could be a defect with the specific device you have maybe was dropped and someting shiffted in the internals but pls keep us posted if the new device acts thesame .
I have two Z2, me and GF, her phone has the exact same problem, everyone complains about how poor she sounds and she always has to use a headset. Have you had your phone fixed?
no not fixed never had the problem and since i updated to new update ,the device is even faster and runs more smoothly
I received mine yesterday. In fact, it's a brand new one, wich works perfectly.
The issue could't be repaired in those 3 weeks (maybe it was one of the first with this issue that they received)
Everything works now.

Bad Echo for the reciever tried factory resets, software updates, changed all the sound settings and I have no case
Hi everyone,
I've had the exact same issues since my very first call. I am pretty sure it is a hardware issue and not software or use-related (my phone has never been in contact with water, the issue started in an "out-of-the-box" context and ALL the people I've had over the phone guessed that I changed for a new one just because they could not hear me as clearly as with my former HTC HD2 which I'm starting to deeply regret for this basic use of calling for a phone!).
Searching over the web and through this forum, you can find many people complaining about this problem and saying that a standard exchange did not solve it: would it be a batch problem?? For info, mine is a simlock-free purple model bought in Germany.
Another thing, using noise cancellation is even worse according to my callees so I guess I'll never use this feature, then... All details provided by you guys are described by my friends when I have them on the phone: hissing, hearing me in the distance (muffled sound), hearing their voice in echo (bad Z2 speaker=>mic interaction), vibration (resonance/vibration due to the phone design itself??), hearing like intermittent wind gusts and very very bad sound when I hold the phone between my cheek and shoulder...
As if this would not be bad enough, now the camera application does not record sound anymore when filming (it used to be OK before updating to newer version through PC Companion). Instead of proper sound you hear constant hissing. After a lot of tests I've realised that it now uses the noise cancellation mic instead of the primary one. When running a mic test through Xperia diagnostics menu you can hear back that hissing and no sound at all. Doing the same test through the *#*#7378423#*#* menu gives a different result since I can hear the recording perfectly well (because it is using primary microphone).
Could anyone tell me whether you're supposed to get clear sound when testing the secondary mic or is it designed to record "ambiant sound"? If it is supposed to rec clear sound then I would know that my secondary is simply not working (which might be the cause of all the trouble).
Now I'm feeling like I'm going to get a refund and buy a G3 if Sony Support does not give precise advice / takes corrective actions to make me as satisfied a customer of theirs as I used to be when I had bought my P-910 back in the past...
Thanks for your feedback guys
Cheers from France
My phone has the same issue. The receivers of my calls keep complaining s/he is hearing their own voices and cannot hear me clearly. I contacted the local sony cs, they just told me to send it back to the repair centre for checking or “repair” my phone via pc companion. It seems like both of them wouldn’t work as I see ppl here have been exchanging for their 2nd or even 3rd phone. How would this happen to a HKD6K phone…?
