Echo issues during phone call

The receivers always hear an echo from my phone, and the soud quality is bad.

I tried to change all the sound settings available, nothing works.

Anyone had same issue already ?

I fully sympathize with you, i had sms issues and incall issues with z1 also, i have static issues with Z2 now, not worth sending to repair, they will tell you nothing is wrong, i also have issue with the volume of messages coming thru, i set it to full volume, select a very loud message tone, then when i get a message i barely hear it, there are plenty of bugs.

I have had Sony phones since k800i, its been tough, but i want to stick with them, they have got a whole lot better.

Gotta wait for a firmware update

I'm experiencing the same issues, mine might be a bit worse too, I'm hearing call choppiness where the call goes blank for a second multiple times during a call. There's always static sound during the call, and the callees complain that my voice is very unclear. Right now the phone is unusable in terms of making phone calls..

I've went ahead and sent my info to Johan, let's hope this issue can be fixed with a simple update.

Does it occur in normal - thru phone speaker, or in stereo mode loudspeaking. My father has the same echo in Z1, but only in loudspeaker mode, the normal calls seem ok in overall quality.

I received my phone 5 days ago.

Everytime I call someone, without using an external headset,  they complain about not hearing me properly. Someone also metioned echo. I end up holding the phone as to speak directly into the bottom end....

This made me download a sound recorder, to check if there could be something wrong with the internal mic.

The recordings went like this:

- Holding the phone up to my ear like normal: Static noise, Scratching noises and voice muffled (with or without noise-canceling)

- Holding the phone completely still, speaking directly into the mic at bottom: Static noise, Muffled, but less scratchy sounds.
The scratchy noises seems to come from the phone just toucing your ear or you shifting your grip slightly

- Using the headset included with the phone/or my bose headset: Crystal clear sound!

Seems like there is some serious issus with the internal mic, and I am very disappointed to see several people reporting this. I really hope this can be corrected, or it's being returned, and it will be some time before I buy Sony phone again...

Otherwise the phone is great!

Formerly a very happy Xperia Z owner, and now very disappointed (waited a long time for this handset)

I can understand that hardware problems may happen from times to times.

What I regret is that it's been 14 days, with no phone lent while it's away for repair.

Hi All,

I have almost the same issue.

Audio quality, especially while incoming call just awful . All rattles, sense as half- duplex connection as using satellite

There is a voice channel fadding where both subscriber keep silence and you think that call is ended Then obviously, when far end subscriber starts talking  his voice comes with a second delay that incredibly annoying . I really hope that this software bug . Otherwise, the problem remains. I do not think Sony will start to callback their phones.

Also, if you even set not max level of voice sound(I didn't mention hign level at all) all people around will hear your conversation as voice goes out from phone itself not just from speaker. You even can easily hearing you subscriber by flipping over you phone to the back panel to your ear Slightly_smiling_Face

I'm having similar issues. Whenever I call someone there is a constant hissing and crackling and the person at the other end either hears the same or the call goes faint and distant. I'm on my 3rd phone in less than two weeks and still having issues 😞
