Broken screen cant unlock to back up delete stuff (UK)

First up does anyone in the UK know how much this is going to cost to replace the screen? I cant unlock the phone as when it got damaged its affected the touchscreen part of it but I can still see the keypad etc and for some reason I restarted it so cant use the fingerprint scanner to unlock it (schoolboy error) I have tried connecting a USB battery powered mouse which didn't work.

Before I send it away to get fixed I want to back it up to my PC companion then wipe it but it needs to be unlocked to do so, I'm not sending it away with the pics of me and the mrs on

buy a USB OTG cable > connect the cable and a mouse to the phone > restart the phone > you should be able to use the mouse to unlock the phone and backup and remove those pictures of you and the mrs

Fairly sure I tried that but cant remember exactly. I have an OTG cable, can I use a wired USB mouse or does it have to be a battery powered wireless mouse?
