Wrong Battery level reading?

Hi all, i just got my z4 tablet from a friend. ive noticed that the battery will be full charge in just about 120mnts or less(using uch10 quickcharge). the problem is, if i disconnect the charger as soon as the battey show 100% or a few mnts after it...the numbers will drop rapidly about a few seconds for 1% untill the value is about 60-70% . ive noticed that when the batt is under 10% it took a long time for it to reach 1% or empty.

But, if i keep on charging it even tho the lvl is already 100%..i usually leave it charge while i sleep. the reading will be normal.  is this normal ? or perhaps i should send it for repair? im afraid it might destroy the waterproof seal if i send to sony centre.... i tried to repair using pc companion but the problem still there

Hi @Koey,

The battery level sometimes decreases or increases between 5 and 20% when restarting a device using the software it was originally released with. However, the battery level hasn’t really changed, and over time the battery indicator will be adjusted back to the correct level.

To make sure that the correct battery level is displayed, try these steps one after the other. Check whether the problem was solved after each step, before trying the next one.

  • Note down the battery level shown when you restart or force a restart. When the device has been turned back on again, check if the battery level has changed. Differences of less than five percentages are normal.
  • Fully drain the battery, then charge it to 100%. If possible, disconnect the charger when the battery is fully charged. Tip: You can install an app from Google Play that triggers an alarm or notification when the battery is fully charged.
  • Update your Xperia device to a new software version using Xperia Companion.
  • Restart your Xperia device in safe mode. In Safe mode, your device only starts with software and applications that were already installed when you purchased your device. If the device’s performance improves in Safe mode, it’s likely that one or more of your post-purchase downloaded applications are affecting the device negatively. Proceed by uninstalling any interfering apps.
  • Perform a factory data reset or perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. Note! Always back up all personal data before performing a software repair. All data in the internal memory is overwritten during a software repair. Content on an external SD card is kept.
  • If all this fails, contact your Local support team.
