My Vivaz Pro has frozen twice now. Pressing the touch screen or any of the buttons does nothing. I can't even switch it off. I had to remove the battery and re-insert it to get going again. Does anyone know why this happens ?
Try updating your software with Sony Ericsson Update Service as it could just be old firmware.
Thanks KrazyD.
I have the SE Update Service on my PC but haven't run it yet. I was surprised to see that it involves removing the battery from the phone; I suppose it forces a kind of reboot but there should be some other way of doing that.
The Vivaz_Pro is quite a new phone and mine is very new so I would have thought/hoped that it had the current firmware on it. Do you know if there is a way of finding out what version of the firmware is on the phone and what is the current version available from SE ?
I have just read through all the posts on the topic Sony Ericsson Update Service and am horrified by the huge number of problems being encountered and the disgracefully tiny help being given by SE. I also read in those posts that the Update Service wipes out everything I have changed on my phone, eg email settings, wifi settings, standby, themes, shortcuts, apps I have installed etc. So what is the point of running it ?
Hi Jpljp!
The update service application will reset the handset. This is to load the most up-to-date version of software and the handset must be powered off to complete this. This is the only reason why you are requested to remove and insert the battery.
If you encounter problems like what you have described with freezing, loading the latest version of software can resolve this for you and enhance the performance of your handset in general.
We would suggest trying the update if possible to see if this helps and if you do have any further issues, please feel free to post here or send me a message and I will try to help you out as much as possible.
