Hi,
i got my new Xperia T LT30P for now about 6 weeks (i think) and i recognized that the matte coating of the phones back is peeling off at the edges. It didnt get any scratches and it didn't fall a single time. I made some pictures of the spots:
Is the coating of the Xperia T smartphones just of bad quality? It shouldn't be normal that it looks like that after just a couple of weeks!
Greetings
David

'I was so looking forward to treating myself to a top-end smartphone for the first time after deciding the s3 was too commonplace.'
Almost exactly (I already had a top-end smartphone in the N8) my feelings before it arrived ... I really wanted to be blown away by it but I have just been severely disappointed at every step
My wife has an S3 and that has a horrible interface, full of gimmicks that few people are likely to use, and lacks user-friendly functionality as well. However, the camera is a lot better than the Xperia and the screen resolution is easier on the eye. No potential peeling issues, either.
My batch number is 12W44 (can be found on the white label you can pull out of the sim/sd slot. It is on the side where the screen is)
Mine is having the same problem and it will be 1month old on 7th dec.
I don't think that it will be covered by warranty, but if it looks like this after one month i don't wanna think how it will look after 1year.
It should be within warranty - it is not fit for purpose, or even better Sony will issue a recall
Hopefuly i bought a case just after buying the phone because i know that the smooth finish will eventually deteriorate (become glossy on corner for exemple) in time with clothes friction. But I would not have imagined the peel off stuff. Ouch.
That's how things are made today... I think you will have the same problem with another T
There won't be another T - once they send a replacement it's going straight on e-bay
I have a Lenovo thinkpad laptop (that i barely use) and the smooth finish (same type than the xperia T) is sort of peeling off too on corners and edges
Still it shouldnt been falling off already.. 2 weeks of usages :c..... I bought a case today. Hope sony will undertake action to fix my device ... otherwise i have to make calls and email.
Mine started falling off after only 8 days. There is NO way that should be happening. I can't imagine that Sony said; "Hey guys, new Xperia T with sweet back coating, just be aware it WILL begin to fall off after 8 days of use so just giving you the heads-up on that".
It's a phone, which you hold in your hand. If it can't hold up to a bit of handling then that's just crazy.
That's why it would be interesting to know if other Xperia T owners have ones that aren't doing this then it could be attributed to a bad batch.
So, finally, I assume this issue is warranty or not?
Let one of Sony employees to give a specific answer please.
