Device memory full in xperia L

Hi.

I have a problem with my xperia L. Device memory gets full with normal usage after a couple of weeks. After it gets full, the phone is almost impossible to use; album doesn't work, new updates will not install, phone resets itself, cannot install new programs.. ETC. The only way out is, in my opinion, to make a "factory reset". But this is not how it should go with a mobile phone..

I am completely sure that this is somekind of a software bug, because my work mate is having exactly same symptoms with his phone and some other users have complained this in this forum with other words. For example:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/140571

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/144006

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/141173

Somebody explained that this is because the album app is somehow broken, other explanation would be that the phone doesn't know how to refresh the temp files...

Now I have some questions for Sony:

1. Do you recognize this problem?

2. How are you going to tackle it and what is the schedule?

3. Also, when tackling this problem, will you repair the camera software too?

Then, I would like to know if there are other users having the same problem.. By the way, the system version is 15.0.A.1.31

I give up with this now.

I sent the community manager Johan a message yesterday and he hasn't bothered replying.  I notice that he did edit a post on here yesterday, so he's certainly alive.

I am just off the phone to Sony UK Support (08705 237 237) and ended up in an argument.  Upshot of the conversation was that I had to stop talking about this forum, as they don't deal with the forum and are only interested in fixing MY phone.  They wanted me to send it in for service.  I just laughed and told them that at least 60 other people had already done this to no avail, again he said he wasn't bothered about 60 people, only my phone.  I explained that I could do a factory reset today, and within a week I'd have to do another one as the internal memory gets full.  His reply "Yes, but within that week you'll be downloading lots of apps!"  Seriously?!  I asked him if he knew what a Core Dump was.  Yes, he replied, but was certain that this wasn't the issue, and just kept telling me that I was downloading too many apps, pictures and music.  I ended up losing the head with him, telling him that the pictures etc go into Internal Storage and frankly he had no idea what he was talking about.

From what I can make out now, the telephone support only want to follow a script, the support on here couldn't care less after a week and we all made a massive mistake buying a Sony product.

I really hope this issue gets sorted for you guys, but I'm quite limited in what I can do due to the fact I've rooted my phone.  If I really kick up a fuss they will want me to send them the phone, and the second they see it's rooted they'll just return it to me and tell me I broke it.  I have to say though that if I hadn't rooted it and was having this problem, I'd be following their steps of Factory Reset, sending it for service, then going to the place I bought the phone and demanding a refund as the handset is absolutley NOT fit for purpose.  Certainly in the U.K. they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

hi proterra,
yes, you are absolutely correct.
the people in service center Don't care what we are telling.
they simply do a factory reset and give us back.

I don't know how to react to these guys' ignorance.
I just bought this mobile only because of camera and android apps.. disappointed in both aspects..

Another XPERIA L user with the same problem!

It's have been 1 week since I bought the phone and this is my second factory reset!!

At first I thought it was spotify because of the large wasted space. Now for example with everything uninstalled there are 1GB of internal memory used. And after a factory reset there are only 265MB used!!!

So, it must be some Android - Sony application

guys, remove the 'PICTURES and VIDEOS' widget from the HOME SCREEN and delete all the files from:

INTERNAL STORAGE->DCIM->THUMBNAILS folder.  use file explorer to view hidden folders.

this widget keeps generating thumbnail files on every restart of the phone or when the pictures are captured from camera or when pictures are downloaded from internet. i see that these files are around 70-100mb in size that are being created and a lot of thumbnail pictures. once removed this cache generation stops being generated and usage of internal memory will be stopped upto an extent. its not the problem with ALBUM app or MEDIA STORAGE app for sure!!!

i'm sorry for decept you but thisn't the solution.I thougth so too but today i've lost 20mb, tomorrow we'll see but i' m sure it will be the same s**t.

You can check yourself, when you delete this files memory is not increasing at all. Problem still remains. I never had spotify and this decreasing memory happens to me too. I think it´s a problem of some aplications, not only one.

SONY PLEASE WE WANT A SOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!
