Device memory full in xperia L

Hi.

I have a problem with my xperia L. Device memory gets full with normal usage after a couple of weeks. After it gets full, the phone is almost impossible to use; album doesn't work, new updates will not install, phone resets itself, cannot install new programs.. ETC. The only way out is, in my opinion, to make a "factory reset". But this is not how it should go with a mobile phone..

I am completely sure that this is somekind of a software bug, because my work mate is having exactly same symptoms with his phone and some other users have complained this in this forum with other words. For example:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/140571

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/144006

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/141173

Somebody explained that this is because the album app is somehow broken, other explanation would be that the phone doesn't know how to refresh the temp files...

Now I have some questions for Sony:

1. Do you recognize this problem?

2. How are you going to tackle it and what is the schedule?

3. Also, when tackling this problem, will you repair the camera software too?

Then, I would like to know if there are other users having the same problem.. By the way, the system version is 15.0.A.1.31

I'm from Sweden as well and suffer from this problem.

Don't forget give your opinion about the phone on "prisjakt.nu" (main customer community in Sweden) and by direct communication to Sony and the store.

This of course applies to all others also!

If Sony was a serious company and understood the meaning of the word CARE they should stop selling this piece of crap until this memory bug was fixed.

To Forum Community manager:

Don't you care about your customers?

(who makes you and your collegues have a salary and gives profit to the shareholders!)

Don't you believe there is a problem out there?

Don't tou read this forum thread at all?

Don't you have any feedback from the developer department?

Are you as frustrated as we are because you don't get their attention?

Are you not allowed to give info due to internal policy?

Guys, does everyone here use battery saving options, such as Stamina etc?

Since I posted here a few nights ago, leaving Spotify running without playing music and locking the screen for around 30 minutes has without fail created a dump file.

Following on from the contents of one of the files mentioning data being disabled, I have today turned off all power saving options, and have left Spotify running and I am not getting dump files anymore.

I have tried opening it, playing some songs, pausing it pressing the home button and locking the screen a few times today...

It might just be a total fluke, however I will give it some more time and see how it goes, perhaps some others here could also try this and see if it helps?  It's certainly a better solution than constantly having to factory restore your phones!

Just had an afterthought.  I have unlimited mobile data, so I do not turn my mobile data off, it get's left on constantly.  If this issue is due to Spotify, or other apps which rely on a data connection crashing due to losing data there are a lot of variables which come into play.  For example, if you turn off Stamina mode and disable your mobile data and WiFi you may still get the issue...  Or, you could turn off Stamina mode, disable mobile data but leave Wi-Fi on.  As soon as you leave your house, or other place where you are using Wi-Fi the issue could happen as you are losing the data connection again.

More than 3 months that this issue is detected but Sony is still showing that they don't care for their customers.

Maybe they are busy selling their products only!

Totally unacceptable that they haven't yet cared consider this as a major issue. Don't know when we will get over with this Slightly_frowning_Face

I can't believe it has really been over 2 months without any answer from Sony on the topic! If at least they recognized the problem and would say when the fix is going to be available!

I'm continually cleaning the Cache but nevertheless I lose about 150 MB per day.

I've already reset the phone three times. The saddest thing is that this problem aside, I really like the device; but this is getting on my nerves. I am waiting with the (vane) hope of getting a solution shortly, but I am only days away from giving up on this lemon.

I was thinking about buying a Sony tablet... but guess who is going to get a Samsung?

Dear friends,

I'm from chile and got this phone a week ago. Everything was going ok untill saturday night. On sunday morning the phantom low memory issue appeared, I searched a lot to find an answer on the web. Couldn't get to any real solution or specific source for the problem, some people claim it was spotify others the walkman app. I did clean the cache, erased thumbnails (By the way, that memory leak affect internal sd partition not internal memory) and looked everywhere to free that missing space.

At the end, I rooted the phone (Don't care to void warranty, my carriers customer service) and download from google play "root browser" app to access internal memory system files, start looking in every folder for the files that where using the leaked memory till I found them. I went to the following directory in the internal memory partition (you can only get access to it by rooting your phone)

/data/core

I found several files named ".android.chrome.55748 (any given number) ",they where massive, over 100 MB each. Took the shot and deleted them.

The problem was solved for me. In my case it was google chrome that caused the issue. I will turn chrome into user app with "link2sd" app and see if the issue persist. If it does i will delete the files again uninstall chrome and star using another browser and hope for the issue not to take it's revenge.

I know that many of you don't want to void your warranty by rooting your phone,so I hope that this can help others to solve the issue while wating for a real solution from sony, cause it's clearly a bug from their android stock rom dealing with the files found in the folder I mention above.

If anyone is already root user and has got this issue search the directory and post if he founds there the leaked memory files, try to post from which app they belong so if someone in sony is reading this thread he might do his work and solve this issue.
