Hi.
I have a problem with my xperia L. Device memory gets full with normal usage after a couple of weeks. After it gets full, the phone is almost impossible to use; album doesn't work, new updates will not install, phone resets itself, cannot install new programs.. ETC. The only way out is, in my opinion, to make a "factory reset". But this is not how it should go with a mobile phone..
I am completely sure that this is somekind of a software bug, because my work mate is having exactly same symptoms with his phone and some other users have complained this in this forum with other words. For example:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/140571
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/144006
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/141173
Somebody explained that this is because the album app is somehow broken, other explanation would be that the phone doesn't know how to refresh the temp files...
Now I have some questions for Sony:
1. Do you recognize this problem?
2. How are you going to tackle it and what is the schedule?
3. Also, when tackling this problem, will you repair the camera software too?
Then, I would like to know if there are other users having the same problem.. By the way, the system version is 15.0.A.1.31
If you have problems with the memory being full even though it should not be based on the number and size of apps and files stored i recommend that you update your device with the latest software (15.3.A.0.26) which cleans unnecessary dump data from the memory.
I have forwarded the problem with the specification on www.sony.co.in. It should say 4x digital zoom and 720p video recording as it does on http://www.sonymobile.com/in/products/phones/xperia-l/specifications/#tabs.
thank you rickard. Hopefully, the mistake is rectified soon. & yes, this memory bug does get solved with the latest update. :smileysmileythumbsup:
Hi Rickard,
I installed latest software version 15.3.A.0.26, but still am facing low memory issue.
Scenario is as follow -
1. Suppose by default my occupied internal memory is 500 MB out of 4 GB
2. Once i open whtsapp app, that occupied memory start increasing, in just 1 min. all 4GB is occupied.
3. Can't understand what happen at background, when i check DCIM folder from internal memory, it's size is around 3.5 GB.
Can you suggest me whats the issue with the phone? How can i solve this issue?
Thanks,
Vikas
If your problem is whatsapp alone, then you can stop using it and complain to them. With the latest update you can also erase all temporary data through the Storage menu. This should erase also your whatsapp junk files. I haven't done it, but I guess it will work.
my xperia L device memory is ony 2.1mb remaining what to do???????
Are there too many apps..if so uninstall some..
If installed apps are less , then you are facing memory problem, may be problem is with the firmware as stated in the following link..http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-L/Device-memory-full-in-xperia-L/td-p/347456
what is the firmware version(build number) is your mobile..?
see in Settings > About Phone
If the Android version is 4.1.2
And Build No. is 15.0.A.2.17..Try update your mobile to latest firmware using Pc Companion software ..Latest firmware is 15.3.A.0.26
I had a similar problem ,ie. a Memory run out message was displayed and i was not able to update or install apps.
but on friday i have solved the problem.I just recieved an software update notification.so i updated my software version from 4.1.2 to 4.2 jelly bean. using Wifi (312 MB size).now there is no memory run out notifications.my Xperia L is fast and awesome....got new features and feeling happy...:smileyhappy:
just update Android version...a new update is available...4.2, my problem is solved....if you have already updated, even also the problem exists then take it to the nearest service centre....
Made a little porgram to automate the cleaning.
You can download it here: Maintain Xperia L
What it does:
- deletes all files in /data/core/
- deletes all files in /data/crash/
- deletes all files in /storage/sdcard0/LOST.DIR/
- deletes all files in /storage/sdcard0/DCIM/.thumbnails
The later one needs the phone to be rooted.
At least it does help me with Xperia L ver. 15.0.A.2.17
