Unable to sign into Emails.

I updated my hotmail password on my computer and when I went to update it on my Xperia Z5 it kept saying incorrect details, so I deleted the account to try and re-sync everything again but now it keeps saying "Log-in error. Check your username and password, then try again." but when I add my email and the updated password it keeps repeating that error message. I am unsure on what to do?

I attempted using me Gmail for the default email app, and it has worked fine without issue. Regarding the incoming and outgoing settings, I am not able to manage the outgoing settings but for the incoming settings I have:

• IMAP Server: imap-mail.outlook.com
• Port: 993
• Security Type: SSL/TLS
• IMAP path prefix: Optional

When you input the incoming settings and go Done, does it attempted to connect to the server and does it move on, or is this where the error message occurs.

Once I press Done, it says "Checking for incoming server settings" and then it says the error. It does not go any further than that

My Hotmail account changed its default on its own awhile back to EAS.

Try the following to see if the same has happened to you.

Domain\Username: email address

Password: Password

Server: eas.outlook.com

Use Secure connection SSL

Accept all SSL certificate

Port: 443

Although this is exchange, this is the account type they defaulted my hotmail to.

I gave it a try but it just gives the log in error message again.

Can you boot to safemode and then attempt normal login and then the EAS login.

 I attempted to login through safe mode just now. When I try login normally, it gives me a username/password error (even though I changed my password again just incase) and it's the same when I try EAS login.

You may need to try use the Live email application, it is made specifically for the Hotmail/Live/Outlook email accounts.

You can download it directly from the Play Store

I cannot see any resolution other then a software repair or using there supplied app, as I have tried this multiple times on multiple devices without being able to replicate it.

I have the same issue.

I am trying to log in using my dad's Hotmail account and I get the same error ("Login error.  Check your username and password then try again.") even though I know the username and password are correct since I used it to log in on my PC.  I have also tried logging in manually using Exchange, POP3, IMAP using the hotmail incoming mail server settings and still no luck.

However, when I use my own Hotmail account, it logs in fine by using the wizad.

So there seems to be an issue on Microsoft's end from what I can tell.

This is on a Z5 Dual-SIM E6683 on stock Android 6.0.1 ROM Build 32.2.A.0.253.

Thanks, manually set up my email with that and it seems to be working fine now.
