Sony Xperia Z1 doesn't recognise 32 GB SDcard

Hello everyone,

Today I purchased a SanDisk 32GB Sd card for my phone. The phone also recognised it at first and initiated a system reboot. However once it was started again, I pressed the android message which recommended to outsource data to an sd card, but none was then detected.

Advice how to proceed would be appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear about that.

Can you see the SD card if you go to Settings > Storage? Or is only the internal storage shown in this menu?

If you can't see it here, please try and remove it and mount it again your phone.

Should you still experience that the SD card is not shown, could you please try the SD card in another device? If you can see it in another device, reformat the card and mount it in your Xperia Z1 again.

Hi @Sakkara,

I have had issues with SanDisk Micro SD cards before in my Sony HDR AS15 action camera even though the card purchased was rated over the required Class 4 or Higher.

Did you notice if that card has one of these symbols? 

Now where possible I only purchase the Samsung EVO microSD cards which have a speed class rating of Grade U1, Class 10.

Thanks to both of you for your replies, but this was a simple case of human error helped by slightly misleading handbook graphic.

The card now works properly.
