You can do that from Settings -> Apps -> Choose the app you want to move -> (Storage if using Marshmallow) -> Change storage to SD card.
I think if you search the Play Store you can find apps that can do move multiple apps at once.
Some of the apps will also store their data on SD, but it is exactly as @Viridis has said.
Basically you can move the apk too, but only some of the apps will allow storing their data on SD too. You might need to move them again to SD.
The permissions given inside Apps option? Or is it something to do with the developer?
The only way I found to move apps was by entering in safe mode and then transfer the app, but it doesn't work with all apps; it may appear that transfered correctly, but I go to the folder in the SD where it should be the data and is not there.

on Android 5: Settings - Apps - SD Card, there you could see which app could be transfered to SD.
on Android 6: I couldn't find it.
Yes, but now I have to enter each app to check, whether it can be moved to SD.
On Android 5 it was clearer, like on the picture (right side).
