Screen suddenly goes darker and gets burn in

Hello everyone,

My screen on the Sony Z3 compact suddenly becomes darker as if someone reduced its brightness to minimum and shows screen burn. On other occasions it is completely fine. It does it intermittently especially after the phone sleeps. I haven't changed any brightness or display settings.

Please let me what is causing this problem and what the fix would be. I have tried everything except for factory reset.

Thank you.

@Adeelz3,

Because it is not happening in safe mode it is most likely a third party app. Now is a matter of determining what app is causing the issue.

The process to do this is quite tedious but is the best way to identify the issue. You will need to uninstall apps one by one and test after each one.

It is best to start with the most recently updated and installed apps and work your way back from there.

Good luck. If you figure out the problem app please let us know.

Hi @Adeelz3,

Welcome to the community.

I don't see any burn in on the image you posted, probably because it's a screen shot. If you want to test if there's a software reason for this, I recommend you test your phone in safe mode.

Thanks Cameron. I used the safe mode and it did not happen. However I restarted my phone back to normal and the same problem persists. Is there a way to find out what third party app is causing the issue?
Thanks.

Thanks. I updated a few apps and deleted a few and it has stopped the issue.

@Adeelz3,

I am glad to hear you got it resolved Slightly_smiling_Face Do you happen to know what app or apps might have caused it?

I uninstalled yahoo weather and a battery booster app. I think one of them were causing the bug.
