My Xperia Z3 Compact reset itself to factory default in my pocket ...
The screen was locked and the option tape" twice on screen to wake-up" disactivate.
There is a combo of button to reset the phone ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Please I am in this same situation. This is a terrible flaw by Sony, very bad ergonomics. My whole work life is on this phone and it's giving me audio guidance. Please how do I get out of this.
Last night i unlocked my xperia z3 and i saw a message that android stoped working, than the phone started to restart without stopping not even going to the home screen!
I tried everything hard reset and etc. nothing work i cant enter even in Recovery mode!
Any ideas?
Hey,
this type-SONY-feature is not available anymore since upgrade to Android 6.0.1
Already had a pocket factory reset twice now.
Can you tell me how to enable that or if there is a patch planned?
Thanks
I'm very sorry to hear that
Regrettably the fail-safe solution we implemented to prevent accidental erase is not triggered in the Android 6.01 release.
To overcome this, we suggest you turn off the “Tap to wake” setting to minimize the risk of the screen turning on by mistake.
This will be addressed within a software updated planned for early July.
I just wanted to add that my sony Z1 compact does exactly the same thing since the recent big Android upgrade. It is very, very annoying. I have IBM Verse installed which like Exchange forces the user to have a PIN to unlock. I am sure the fault is the same. I have now had 3 factory resets in the last few weeks while the phone is in my pocket. I guess all Android phoones are suffering the same issue under like circumstances.
The compact must be more prone to the fault as it is much more likely to be in a trouser pocket where unintended key presses can occur.
Has this feature been removed from the latest update for the Z3? My phone keeps factory resetting in my pocket.
Hello,
this thing happened twice to me, today and a month ago. It feels like things got worse with Marshmallow.
The type "SONY" solution doesn't help. Actually I've seen this a multiple times too, only one click away from a factory reset.
It's really frustrating to loose all the data. How is that possible and why didn't that never happen to my Samsung Galaxy S3?
Best,
Tobias
Hello,
My two years old Z1 compact did pocket factory reset just yesterday, it was first time for me and naturally had tons of stuff stored in the phone. Like many I also had exchange sync which demand pin locking. It took several hours to get most back. I had all images and music on sd card so I was able to restore them with data restoration program. After all I ended up losing one year of sms discussions. I thought that doing back up with PC Companion would revert my phone back, but actually had to reinstall almost 50 app in Google play and had to configure all screens back. I also think that this is something involved with pin locking, many times phone has been in "enter code" state when picking up from pocket. Xperia design on wake up button maybe... Seems like I have to buy second phone just for work mails...
TTaponen
Keeps happening.
Strange thing is, i saw the SONY thing, but now its not there anymore. Anybody knows whats going on? I am on 6.0.1 23.5.A.0.575
