As soon as I updated to Marshmallow, I keep getting the "Unfortunately Google Play Store has stopped..." and the message keeps coming up every 5 seconds.
I tried clearing the cache, deleting data, uninstalling, disabling the app, force closing, signing out of google and back on.
Does not work.
I keep getting the pop up non-stop and it happened as SOON as it updated to Marshmallow.

Issue started with Google Play Services not working after Android 6 upgrade. I did all that Sony support tech instructed such clearing the cache/data/rebboting, etc with no success. They then suggested doing a Repair through the Sony Mobile Companion from a Windows computer. During the last step of the repair, the phone gets stuck asking for the google account used when the phone was setup. Eventhough I've only had one account, it keeps asking for the same and doesnt advance to the next step.
I called sony support again, and they are saying that is is happing a lot now and since the last step with the repair didnt worked, I should send the phone for an evaluation that would take up to 14 business days..
also tried creating a brand new google account but did not work either
any suggestions?
If you're tired of the annoying popups and don't want to reset to factory hoping to wait for the fix - you can at least get rid of the annoying popup errors. Go to Settings > Apps > Google play services > Disable
If popups are still coming, do the same for Google Play Store
Geomome - I assume a repair and factory reset are different things? Are you going to try to do a factory reset?
Thanks Blimptastic - I disable these. Certain apps now don't seem to work, but many do and the popups have stopped. What a pain
SonyPete, I did the repair and didnt work. How do I do the factory reset?
I see it as an option under settings>backup & reset > Factory data reset
I'm not sure if there's an option in Sony PCC though?
OK now I now that the PC Companion Repair and a Factory Reset are the same and neither actually works
geomome, thanks for taking the bullet and trying it out.
I was gonna do the same but decided to run a backup of the phone. Of course, I'm supposed to sign in using a google account, which uses google play services. The result - I can't do a backup. And for some reason it doesn't recognize my SD card as a backup target, so cloud is the only non-option.
This is frustrating
