On-screen buttons getting pressed during calls

Hi all,

First post here. I just bought my z2 and I absolutely love it but am deeply disheartened and concerned by one problem I'm having which pretty much is the most important thing I need.

Almost every time I make a call - the mute, speaker, end call or other buttons get pressed while I'm talking. I've tried to make sure that the proximity sensor is covered by my ear and it still happens. I've also run the diagnostics and although they pass I've noticed that the vibration for the proximity sensor test does not always stay on if I put the phone up against my ear and move it around. Eventually the vibration turns off and some on screen buttons are pressed.

Is this a problem with only my Z2 or a design fault. I'm gravely concerned that replacing it with a new one is going to cause the same issue. For a phone that cost me an arm and a leg I wasn't expecting problems that I never had with any other phone.

Please help.

Thanks.

Having said all that, and acknowledging that, for some, it makes no difference, turning off the "tap to wake" option has stopped it for me!

In my case deactivating the "tap to wake up" feature stopped it for a day or two and now it randomly comes back... I always go in the settings and check but nothing is changed. I am trying to figure out if there is any relation to any othe setting or app that I use. For now I havent connected anything...

I'm having the same issues, constantly sending tones to people on the phone, and annoyingly today when on a call it managed to put the phone into airplane mode therefore cutting the call.

Tried all variety of settings but nothing helps. I'm close to the end of the line with it now, I have to make calls to customers and can't afford to have these types of problems.

A real pity, someone asked me if I'd recommend it today - I said it's a great phone as long as you don't want to make calls. Slightly_frowning_Face

I have also had/having this problem with the Z2.

This use to be a problem with a friends HTC One when they rang me, always muting or hanging up.

No phone is perfect.

I could see this as a real problem for business users dealing with customers etc.

It is annoying and I am not a massive phone caller and only have to call family and friends

Well, to the person who said it's a great phone as long as you don't want to make calls, I'd agree entirely. It's wonderfully made, gorgeous to look at, intuitive to use and extremely powerful. But as a phone, it's unusable. It's uncomfortable (the earpiece is so high the edge of the phone cuts into my ear) and it is well nigh impossible to make a call without the touchscreen making its presence known at some point.

I've gone back to Blackberry and bought a Q10 and you know what, it works great. It's also far, far better at obtaining reception than the Z2.

Shame.

Hey'yall!

I have the same problem as you guys, but I think I have figured out a solution, and that is whenever you are talking to someone on the phone, turn off the screen with the round button on the side, and don't depend on the sensor to do it for you.

It is a little bit more difficult, but at least it works a whole lot better for me that not doing it.

Good luck Slightly_smiling_Face
