Double Tap to wake up app

Double Tap to wake up app

I have found a couple of issues regarding the "tap to wake feature" - its being quite inconsistent.

I sometimes find myself clicking 5 times before it actually wakes up. In addition, it sometimes

wakes up in my pocket, which isn't suppose to happen thanks to the light sensor. It happened

a dozen times and sometimes even made calls, added widgets etc.

P.S, if there is a "tap to wake" why isn't there a tap to sleep?

Thanks.

I have Z2 and got all latest updates till date.

I agree with most that double-tap feature works sporadically...like that feature got its own will. At times it works like a charm and at times (especially when I try to show off to my friends) it would put me in shame.

While you people are facing issues with accidental waking up in pocket, I face stark opposite issue - If I keep the mobile even for 5 minutes in my pant pocket, the double tap wont work unless I do double-million taps.

After all these hit n miss...now I always double-tap with a doubt - will it work or not?

Does anyone else face similar issue?

Is Sony working on fixing this??

Exactly the same problem. Have to tap multiple times for it to activate. I might as well disable it entirely.

@Kvaju

I am quite sure that app to lock screen by Proximity sensor can help. Have PM to you, hope it help.

Problem here also with the double-tap-to-wake function, since the screen keeps waking in pocket while facing my leg. Turning the the screen facing outside or completely disabling the function helps, but you don´t remember to do that every time and I really like the feature. And also.. come on? It´s 2015, and this feature was working without any issues on **bleep**ty Lumias 3 years ago..

My case is that the employer requires to have the security PIN lock in my Z3c, and when the screen awakes in pocket, it also starts to put the pin code. When it does that couple of times wrong (obviously) the security features resets the phone completely. I mean full factory reset. Photos, music, messages, apps. All gone.

Of course you have issues with smart phones no matter the manufacturer, but I´m sitting here second time in this week to retrieve all my apps and settings.. Richard, please, if you can deliver the message forward to the right people.. Kindly tell them that the relating the proximity sensor to unlocking screen would be really, really nice.

Cheers.

I like this feature too, but I had to disable it because of the accidantel wake ups.

I thought it uses the proximity sensor because sometimes during calls, I touched a lot of apps, changed settings with my ear, so I was blaming my sensors for that. By the way that issue is no longer present for me.

So +1 for the improvement.

It _always_ unlocks in my pocket. I try it again at every major update, and have to turn off in an hour. It's a shame because my LG G2 could pull this off without any issues. Note: using the proximity sensor sounds like a good idea though it may adversely affect battery life. It would require turning on the sensor every 2 minutes. That's how often the phone unlocks in my pocket right now.

I have the exact same issue. I have a pin for security as I have IBM Verse installed to get access to work email and diary. My Z5 has woken twice now in my pocket, accidentally accessed the pin number screen, failed and my phone has been returned to factory settings. It literally takes ages to get back to where you were.

As a fix I have un-installed IBM Verse. However, three times since then I have taken my phone from my pocket and the pin number screen is on wit the message about trying and failing 10 times to input the correct pin. Please wait for 30 seconds.

It is unbelievable that Sony don't want to, or don't know how to fix this problem, when other manufacturers are have no problem.

Just got a second hand Z3 Compact, set it all up including tap to wake, and what happens .... it wakes up in my pocket, flashlight on, adding pages to my home screen etc.... . FFS fix this feature.

Its not like its a new issue, from what ive read it seems been going on for a F...g ages.

I had a One+ before this with no issue waking in my pocket at all.

Get it sorted !
