Hi
I got my sony xperia z5 a couple of weeks ago and encounter backup problem today. It was running as usual a week ago.
I went into Setting => Backup & reset => More => Manual backup
then try to change the "where to store file" to my gmail account but it wont sign in. It kept on saying "online account not signed in". Not matter what it wont let me change to online account, although the backup account section has my gmail signed in.
My gmail account is signed in in the accounts section as well and I cant find any other area that I need to sign in.
Could someone please help. This is the first time it happen since I got my z5..
Thanks thanks...

And what apps did you deactivate under apps.?
Hi I have not deactivated any apps. I am not sure that Android update is relevant to the backup - restore service. It should backup my phone regardless of the android version, just like it is able to synchronize my mail, or google drive or any other services.
@Wodzu Have you by any chance modified the phone's software in any way? That could cause this feature to stop working. Other than this I would suggest that you try a factory reset of the phone.
@Christofer I haven't modified anything in my phone.
Thanks for trying to help. Honestly I don't want to try restore default factory settings, it is too much hussle to put everything back to its place...
This is probably some trivial problem with some appon the phone, but I am not able to find it myself..
I have a Z5 with last firmware (.253).
Twice reset the phone and 1 repair from Xperia Companion.
Backup and reset app do not work. In the mail account option, fails trying to sign. In the SD option, stops when reaches 50% of all options selected previously.
Hi, I'm having the same issue!
Backup and Restore won't work with google account, it says 'Signing In' and hangs up there.
Also, when I try to backup to SD card, stuck at 50%.
I've done every solution fom page 1 to page 6, but no luck...
This started few days ago, until then everything was working fine, including automatic backup.
Sony guys, please fix this
Can this be related to bootloader unlock process?
