Recently upgraded myself with a XZ Premium from a Z5 Premium. I connected the phone to my BMW's iDrive system using Bluetooth to play music.
Apparently the media audio doesn't work. I increased both my Xperia's music player volume and the car players volume.... Press play and even though the music plays.... No music can be heard from the cars sound system.
I tried Xperia software repair, still doesn't work.
The XZ P is a stunning device. But these sort of errors shouldn't be present on a flagship Sony device like this. It can be frustrating.
Any help or is there any update coming soon to rectify this issue?
Looking forward for your reply.

It took me about three attempts to sort this out. It wouldn't work at first just follow the instructions above and it will give you the options. It's currently working fine,I have version 8.00 but it worked on previous version.

Hello
I didn't have the settings in v 7.1.1 but got it in the new v 8.0.
Thank you so much!!
Unfortunately my Xperia XZ has same problem after last security update from december. Oreo already y installed before without any problem with my bmw 4series. Since latest update, no more Bluetooth audio connection. Following instructions given before, bluetooth app on phone is shuting down immediately when trying to connect with car. So annoying...
Anybody any idea??
Thank you so much!
Hi everbody,
Thanks for the solution with Bluetooth developer change. It helped to connect to my BMW idrive and the sound is working fine.
However I can not get screen mirroring to work. Anybody had the same problem?
@Yan76wrote:Hi,
I have the XZ Premium and BMW .
I solved the problem!
First, go to the settings menu. After you get to the settings go to the "System" and then “About phone” and select on the “build number.” After a few taps you’ll see the prompt and then tap four more times and you’re done. Return to System and you can found the "Devoper options".
Insert to "Developer Options" and found bluetooth setting: "Bluetooth AVRCP Version".
By defaults is 1.6 version . Choose 1.5 or 1.4. Do Pair again (need forgot deveces in both sides)
Good Luck!
thanks! ver 1.5 did it.
Spotify BT integration: Xperia XZ Premium G8141 (8.0.0 build 47.1.A.12.75) - BMW330e 2017
cheers!
I had issues with displaying metadata info in my golf.
Make sure you're unpaired on both ends before starting configuration
On the handset:
-Settings
-System
-Developer Options (if you dont see this sub menu then scroll down to About phone - tap on Build number at least 7 times and the menu will be enabled)
-Networking - Bluetooth AVRCP Version - AVRCP 1.4 (Default)
Pair devices and you should be set, worked for me anyway
I've tried everything to get this working. Your an absolute star. Thank you
