XZ Premium and Bluetooth Car Audio = NO GO

Recently upgraded myself with a XZ Premium from a Z5 Premium. I connected the phone to my BMW's iDrive system using Bluetooth to play music.

Apparently the media audio doesn't work. I increased both my Xperia's music player volume and the car players volume.... Press play and even though the music plays.... No music can be heard from the cars sound system.

I tried Xperia software repair, still doesn't work.

The XZ P is a stunning device. But these sort of errors shouldn't be present on a flagship Sony device like this. It can be frustrating.

Any help or is there any update coming soon to rectify this issue?

Looking forward for your reply.

Yeah. Spoke to them about the app support and that's fine.

The problem is the overall compatability and usability as a handsfree device.. The basic stuff like making / receiving calls, syncing contacts etc should work across the standard bluebooth protocol but it doesn't.. It's buggy.

Is it Android? BWM or the Firmware?

My wife's Moto X Pure runs fine with Bluetooth on her 2015 Honda Accord. I linked it and it just works. She has not yet been updated to Nougat as Moto stopped that several weeks back. So is it Nougat...or is it Sony? Maybe this is one of the reasons Moto stopped the update to Nougat???

I do know that from my perspective Motorola does make some of the best phones when it comes to all the various signals it uses. I just do not like their use of clip on accessories.

How come android 7.1.2 is being mentioned for a while now and I am still on 7.1.1 with bluetooth disconnecting every 2 minutes in car.  Sony Xperia XZ Premium

Hi,

I have the XZ Premium and BMW .

I solved the problem!

First, go to the settings menu. After you get to the settings go to the "System" and then “About phone” and select on the “build number.” After a few taps you’ll see the prompt and then tap four more times and you’re done. Return to System and you can found the "Devoper options".

Insert to "Developer Options" and found bluetooth setting: "Bluetooth AVRCP Version".

By defaults is 1.6 version . Choose 1.5 or 1.4. Do Pair again (need forgot deveces in both sides)

Good Luck!

Hello!

Well found, hope it works for you!

I doesn't seem like that I have the Bluetooth setting in developer option.

I was fine at first but after the Oreo update the mic and speaker stopped working. Will keep looking for a fix to the annoying bugware.

MUCH APPRECIATED!! I confirm that this works for MINI Countryman SE as well. With Android 8.0 Oreo, I activated the "Developer mode", and set Bluetooth AVRCP version to 1.4 instead of 1.6. It works and now I finally can use the audio, call, and even Spotify & MINI Connect!! Woohoo!!

Hello

Yes the developer option help with the new oreo! Make sure to forgett the car in both car and phone. Then I set the Bluetooth to 1.4 and the codec to choose by it self restart the phone and sync again in car, BOOM😄😎👊💪 works better than I hoped! Thanks to all in the forum who solved what Sony and Bmw couldn't. Wish all of you good luck with your cars and phone!

Hi bud, that's awesome you found a workaround, but I don't seem to have that setting. I'm on 7.1.1 what version are you on currently?
