Recently upgraded myself with a XZ Premium from a Z5 Premium. I connected the phone to my BMW's iDrive system using Bluetooth to play music.
Apparently the media audio doesn't work. I increased both my Xperia's music player volume and the car players volume.... Press play and even though the music plays.... No music can be heard from the cars sound system.
I tried Xperia software repair, still doesn't work.
The XZ P is a stunning device. But these sort of errors shouldn't be present on a flagship Sony device like this. It can be frustrating.
Any help or is there any update coming soon to rectify this issue?
Looking forward for your reply.
Works fine on my VW Passat. In fact it even connects faster than my Z5P. But then again, VW only builds basic Media technology in their cars and are not so advanced as BMW.
Thank you I will see what mazda have to say today, the cars only 6 months old but their software is probably older
Hi
I also have this problem on both my BMW since upgrading to Sony xz premium. I'm not getting car audio only calls etc. I still have my old xperia which works fine so I'm using both one for music one calls.. Hope this gets rectified soon.. Hopefully they will do an ug soon..
XZ Premium BT connect to Audi , can't play by Audi play button , and can't transfer music infomaction to car , but press phone music button , there has sound . and I has samsung S7 ,is android 7.1 , no this issue .
You actually have to select the source of music from the car. Even if you connect the phone with the car, you will not be able to hear any sound unless you select bluetooth as the source, as well as the device selected.
By the way, there is this really big issue with the XZP's bluetooth. It just keeps on disconnecting, on phone calls and music. Even my Moto 360 has to be re-paired every few hours.
If you look att bwm homepage you can find out witch phone are compatible with the car, xzp is not one of them, yet but I think the problem lays on bmw
I have an audi a3 just 3 years old and all previous phones have worked flawlessly with it.
Not the xz premium however. I can make a recognised Bluetooth connection but I don't receive calls and cannot play music from the phone via the car head unit.
My headphones also appear to disconnect quite often.
I have bmw 430 gc and everything else I have works fine with xzp it's just the audio stream with the Bluetooth that dosent work
There is a definitely a bug with this phone and BMW - mine just won't work with anything other than calls - can't even access the phone book.
Brand new 420D with the latest firmware for idrive and the XZP is running the latest version of the unbranded software.
Checked at the car supports Bluetooth 5 so there is nothing wrong with the protocols not supporting each other.
It does seem that there might be some truth in the problem being made worse by Android 7.1.2 as I also have a Galaxy S8 plus (running Android 7 but still using Bluetooth 5) and that works beautifully with the car, no issues and even the compatible apps such as Spotify stream across to the car's screen.
On bmw.com you can check what phone that is compatible with the car there is on for S8 but not for xzp
