Things I would like to see on XZ Premium

Hallo dear developers

I like the  Xperia XZ premium but i really miss some very useful and cool features that i had on my beloved sony xperia Z3 copper .

1-the double tap  to wake the phone up

this was so useful to quick see the time and date,to get some light when it was dark and i was looking    for something sweet near my bed Slightly_smiling_Face

2-the splitted wifi button so i could or just turn the network off or on OR if i pressed the lower part of it i saw the whole list of networks. This was brilliant  (on picture)

3-And now the thing i miss mostly. The picture app that showed all my pictures on my homepage with a option to scroll through them on the main screen.Pleas if this things can be applied on my XZ premium than tell me how?If not maybe make it possible in a update.

Hi @SoulRescue,

I moved your post to a separate topic since it didn't fit what we were asking for in the first impression thread. Anyway, I am glad you like your new device. Thanks for staying with us!

The kind of simple answer is that request 1 & 2 involves system patches that we didn't see many users using. What we know is that many of you really want fast Android updates so our focus has been to remove functionality with low usage that causes the Andoird updates to be delayed (sorry but it actually not only a matter of adding developers as you might think).

However, this is not the end of the story. We do see an increasing request for double-tap-to-wake so it might happen that it is brought back to the software. Input from people like you is important to make this happen.

For no 3 I don't know. Will check and come back when I know more.

Have a nice day!

Thank You Sebastian for this comprehensive answers.

If You have once the opportunity to answer nr.3 i would be more than happy.

(but only if i hear that it is possible to have this app on my XZ premium Grinning_Face_with_smiling_Eyes )

Have a nice day Sebastian

I'm thinking of buying this phone but before I do I would like to see:

1. Double tap to wake (otherwise we have no proper way of going to the lock screen).

2. Louder overall volume (saw the premium in a phone shop and found the speakers quite low compared to other phones).

3. A fix for the reported camera distortion (if it's a software issue).

If these can be fixed/added I will buy this phone.

Hi @SoulRescue!

You might know all this info already but I will add it here anyway in addition to what Sebastian wrote.

With major Android updates there are always bigger or smaller changes to the user interface. In an effort to keep true to the Android experience, most often these changes are reflected also in the Xperia UI. It may be an awkward change when you get a new phone, but usually it is something that is easy to get used to.

The Wifi quick setting behaves differently if you pull the notification bar half way down instead of all the way down (one swipe instead of two). If you pull it half way (with one swipe, so that only 6 quick settings are visible) the Wifi icon toggles Wifi on/off with one tap. In my personal opinion this is a superior design and I don’t miss the old one. Optionally swipe down with two fingers to get to the settings panel and the wifi network list quickly. You can also long press the wifi icon immediately from the quick settings.

About the pictures on Home screen, I assume you are referring to the Album widget? That built-in app was removed, but there are a bunch of 3rd party image widgets on Google Play. See

/t5/Xperia-XA1/Sony-photo-album-widget/m-p/1222861#M113 for some suggestions.

Thank You for the info but the apps You are talking about are full of adds and the  the notification bar half way down does not work on my phone the way you described above.

I'm double tapping my XZ premium almost 10x daily without any effect Crying_Face

thanks Bjorn_O  now i found it,only my point was that it was also useful on locked screen to quick turn it off or on.but the tip is also useful Slightly_smiling_Face

example: first double tap the screen to wake slide down and  quick turn off the network to safe battery Slightly_smiling_Face

Umm , actually double tap to wake is very useful but i think why many users dropped it / dont use it because it actually didnt work well when screen protector attached (ex: tempered glass) its really hard to wake device when protector attached that's why im not used it (double tap)
