Bluetooth issue with Android 8 :(

Hi All

Sorry if I am going over a point that has already been covered but I have read most of the topics but I cannot see this issue being raised.

So I have upgraded to Android 8.

Every day I Bluetooth my phone to my car to play my music and take calls if needed.

My Car is a Ford Focus with Sync 2, prior to the “upgrade” my stereo picked up all my song titles and artists.

Since the upgrade I keep getting unknown artist and song title, the only thing that has changed is my os.

This is also happening with my wife’s BMW mini (both 66 plate cars)

I have removed my phone a number of time and change the AVRCP version between the 3 options available.

All I can think is there is an issue with the Bluetooth not sending the metadata, as everything else works fine (phone, text messages etc).

Any ideas or fixes welcome as Sony Support have not been able to fix the issue and will not pass me over to the software development team.

Please Help

Thanks

Your observations are exactly why I have stated many times in many forums that it is time for Google to STOP creating new versions of Android! There is no real reason to keep changing and/or adding things every year just because they can! Let's get what we already have working as it should 1st!

Me thinks I am but speaking into the air....

Phoned Sony tech support... the fecker on the other end of the phone didn't even know what Metadata is 😤

Interrupted me while I was speaking.

Shifted the blame to the Android developers.

Same here.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV - worked flawlessly on Nougat. Doesn't work on Oreo.

SWR10 - worked flawlessly on Nougat. Doesn't work on Oreo.

Dodgy no name speaker - worked flawlessly on Nougat. Doesn't work on Oreo.

Where's the fix?

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

Slightly off-topic, but...

Hoping to get one of these in the next year or two (it would've been the Holden/Chevvy Volt - but they stopped selling them in Australia)... Are they worth the big price-tag, @bigtunes?

Mines a Company Car so the main attraction was the 7% tax. Retail Price was ~£38k

As a car its pretty good to drive, well specced and plenty of power. Decent visability, loads of room and storage inside. Wallows a bit in corners but it is a couple of tonnes of SUV.

However, as I've found it's pretty useless if you can't charge at your destination. My daily commute used to be a shade under 40 miles one way, with charging at the office. I was getting around 75-80 MPG round trip with about 75 - 80 % of that on the battery.

I'm now doing 50 ish miles one way with no charger avaliable and my daily average has plummeted to 35 - 40 MPG with only 45 -50 % on the battery. That last 10 -15 miles with no battery sees the average MPG plummet.

On a longish (100 miles +) I'll get around 40 -45 MPG.

All the above are pottering about in Eco mode, stick it in normal mode and you can knock about 10 MPG off.

So in general if you're planning on doing < 25 miles on a trip and can charge when you get there - blinding can go for days without using much fuel.

If your're doing lots of miles with multiple trips and no charging at your destination I'd probably look at something else.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Quester!!! Followed your steps... was 1.6, changed it to 1.5 and works a treat!

I'm using a Sony Xperia XZ Premium and my car is a 2016 Vauxhall Viva.

This is brilliant... can see singer and song metadata on car radio display.

Pin your fix please 😌

Hello,

Nice to find the avcrp tip I will try it tomorrow morning.
I have the issue on a 2017 BMW 1 (F20 with "pro" GPS) with my new XZ1 compact (up to date 1st december 2017 update)
If I remember correctly I had the same issue with my XZ after updating to Oreo.

Calls workingbut no music even if phone is indicated as connected for multimedia.
Moreover at least 90% of the time the phone is not displayed as a music source (and even if it is it don't work...)
For those who are angry I fully understand you but I'm really unsure that buying Samsung device will really change something because:

- I saw Google's phone / One Plus / "other" company phone which are affected,

- It seems some users where complaining before the final Oreo version and google did not fix it.

So buying another Android phone seems not to be an efficient solution, sorry for you.

Hello,

Some feedback, activating dev options and reverting back to avcrp in v1.5 (against 1.6 selected and 1.4 indicated as default even if I never changed this) and audio streaming is back in my car Winking_Face

Good to see that setting back AVCRP helped.

Nice to see other PHEV adepts here!
