Xperia P shutting down after inserting a Sim card.

Hi,

Updated my Xperia P recently to JB.Was Working fine for a day or two then suddenly the phone shut down automatically.Sent it to Service Center n got the software updated .Still the phone shuts down as soon as I insert a Sim card.The service center guy asked me to change my Sim card.I did it but the problem persists....It runs perfectly well without a Sim?What to do ...????

Sorry to hear that the issue remains.

If it doesn't help to repair the phones firmware using PC Companion and this also happens when you try other SIM cards i'm afraid this sounds like a hardware issue. For more information about how to submit your phone for repair and where, please contact your local support team.

The problem in the battery, it is outdated. I replaced the battery and the problem disappeared.

I have had this problem. I charged the phone to 100%. When stopped charging and use, the charge was reduced to 57%. Then instantly I zeshel in the application menu and left, it was 32%. I dialed the number and wanted to call. As soon as I clicked on the call left a message 14% and the phone is turned off.

I had the same problem too.This worked for me:
1.Open your phone without sim
2a(Ice cream Sandwich):Then Go to the settings->more->mobile networks->Network mode or  2b(Gingerbread) Settings>Wireless and networks>Mobile networks>Network Mode
3:And change network mode to WCDMA only(this worked for me).
4:Insert your Sim and restart your phone

If "WCDMA only" doesn't work you can try "GSM" only.
Old thread but I hope someone else gets helped by this.

Hi Garry, you are awesome!

Your steps worked great on my Xperia P. But, I would like to know what was the issue and how does these steps rectify this? Eagerly awaiting to know. Is it any kind of caliberation issue or software corruption or due to overheating?
