But the battery cannot be removed for this phone.

You could try to power ON your unit without SIM-card(s) and SD-card. But if the phone only shows the Sony logo, a repair via SUS would be recommended:

Hi guys try this incase you are still stuck.

1. make sure your update software is runninng on your pc

2. connect the device to the pc (with the sony logo showing)

3. Press Vol UP and Power Power together until the device turns off (it should in about 5-10 sec)

4. Immediately press vol down button since phone is going to automatically attempt boot.

5. There should be a green light now on the LED indiactor

what should happen next is that your PC will detect the phone in software update mode and start the update process. Be patient.

Hope it works.

Great buddy! It worked for me and worked when I had given up hope. There is no service station in my town and I was planning to go to another town. You saved my effort. Actually, while updating from PC companion, my xperia c got stuck. Only a SONY logo on the screen and nothing seemed working. Subsequently PC stopped detecting my phone. I tried everything like force stop, power and vol up button etc but in vain. I was fortunate to stumble with your idea as I was desperately trying to find out some solution. It worked and I was able to update mobile and then it came out of that inauspicious hang! Thank you very much. This also substantiates that the Sony xperia update process is not that smooth and SONY needs to do a lot on this. I was not able to use phone for a day and I had started repenting for buying this phone!
