Uninstalling Applications That Are Locked or Stock Apps [bloatwares]

Hi,

I have a lot of unused and unimportant (for me) applications

that are running in the background. I can disable some, but

I would rather uninstall them for good.

I want to uninstall apps that do not have uninstall options, those

that came from stock. Is there a way to safely do this? They

consume memory and CPU and battery.

THanks,

Eljun

Can't download the JB.zip. I have my JB ftf. But need the JB.zip. Can you post some other mirror please.

I am not sure about this answer bro, but the zip ftf that you wanted is simply the archived/*.zip equivalent of the ftf file.. simple convert the ftf that you have to an archived form, *.zip..

Not yet bro. I haven't really found a reason to root my stock JB. I am satisfied

But I am searching pretty hard about how to install custom ROMs. I bumped into this.

Custom boot image for 6.2.A.0.400 + CWM Touch v5.5.0.4 stable

I am skeptic. I still need more knowledge..

I just think that there are a lot of stock apps from sony that I don't really need.

Specially those that eats a lot of battery. D***!

You might want to take a look at this thread.

Oh, and that ROM you linked requires an unlocked bootloader. If you're not sure what that means, you're probably still locked (unless you're using a second-hand phone). Unlocking the bootloader allows you to install *any* custom ROM, but it also wipes your DRM keys, meaning that apps and features such as TrackID and Mobile BRAVIA Engine will no longer function. Your warranty is also voided from that point on. Wiping of the DRM keys is an irreversible change, you will never get them back again.

Hmmm.

There are ways to relock the boot loader, but does that still wipe the DRM keys? Are you sure about that?

What is DRM Key anyway?

Relocking bootloader for Sony XPERIA Go (working file)

It's not the locking process that wipes the keys, it's the unlocking process that does that. Re-locking the bootloader does not restore the keys, they're unique to every phone and have already been deleted the moment the bootloader is unlocked.

The DRM keys are supposedly a way for Sony to make its software features exclusive to its phones, i.e. to prevent them from being ported to / functioning on other devices.

Edit:

You can check the current state of your DRM keys by going to the Service Menu (open the dialer - trust me, this isn't a scam of some sort, I can assure you of that - and type in *#*#SERVICE#*#* and you should immediately see the menu. You do not need to hit the Call button, assuming you're fast enough to.) -> Service tests -> Security. If you see output similar to the following:

MARLIN [Key OK][Active]

WMLA[Key OK][Not active]

then your DRM keys are intact. If they show up as Unknown then they're probably gone.

So what happens if I lose my DRM key? I will not receive sony updates? is that correct?

It's not the DRM keys that determine that - it's the state of the bootloader, whether it's locked or unlocked.

You will have to block and avoid OTA (Over-The-Air) updates since those will soft-brick your phone with an unlocked bootloader. IIRC PCC and SUS will also refuse to recognize and communicate with your phone while the bootloader is unlocked, although Sony offers another tool to get you back on the stock firmware if you want it. Note that said tool does not relock the bootloader, nor does it restore your warranty.
