hy...i have a problem.when sending a message longer than 160 characters, the sms can not be sent.i read that if i change from gsm\wcdma to gsm network it will work, and that worked.but this is the only solution?thanks.
I still have the same issue even after the latest update for the X10a, if I try to send long messages (more than 160 characters) not as often but once every other day.
and another issue, if I send an MMS I lose 3G, 2G, H entirely while its sending it, I repair the phone many times but still the same "glitch"
Do you have build version 2.1.A.0.435 in your phone as well?
I'm seeing user on both this forum and on our Facebook page that confirm that a software update to the this latest version actually solved their problem.
You're the first to comment and say that it did not (at least the first I see).
I do have the latest update, and I sitll experience the same issue, as well as other friends.
and I had follow other suggestions, got new SIM cards but nothing, it's not as recurrent as before but it still there.
btw how big can the files be to be send through MMS?
if it's a picture? video? song? because everytime I try to send a video or mp3 it says its to big to be send through MMS
Well then, I'll keep my eyes open to see if someone else have the same issues despite updating to 2.1.A.0.435.
The phone will automatically convert the pictures you send so it fits the size of a MMS. If it's a song or a video, the phone won't be able to convert it like it can with a picture.
I think the limit is somewhere around 300kb but this can be set different by the network operator.
ok thanks
So having more than 20SMS is normal to be converted as MMS? Because I tried to compose 20SMS and after that, it automatically converted as MMS.
I did the same test with my X2, but it didn't convert even I reached 50SMS..
The test were made after I update my x10 phone to the latest version 2.1.A.0.435
do you have the same problem I do, that while sending a MMS you lose 3G/H for 20seconds to 1minute while the X10 sends the file?
Have you tried Handcent SMS instead of stock app
In the send settings
You can set maximum size of MMS (in this is 1.2M, normally it would be around 300K which would be why yours wont send some times)
You can set the option to split messages that exceed 160 characters or not split
You can set it to convert to MMS or leave as SMS if the message is a long one
All round far better than the stock app
If you do try it turn off all the retrieve and notification settings in the stock app otherwise you will get dual notifications, it will still log all sent and received messages though
but just wont tell you about them
I aint sure if it lose the 3G/H.. The only thing I know, it took me a while to send a converted picture..
I tried to send one pic, it didn't disappear.
Maybe you are in a weak spot???
