Really this is getting on my nerves

This is the question that has not been answered to my satisfaction.

I own this stupid x10 and this is getting on my nerves.

WHERE IS THIS STUPID UPDATE TO 2.1, I don't want to hear answers like Q4 and in between and week number, I WANT A STRAIGHT FORWARD ANSWER.

Eg: the update for x10 will be released to Australian market on 27th of September and you will be able to update from our web site ( this is only an example for the answer that I'm looking for ).

Could somebody clear this up as it is very annoying.

hmm... I see your point. and I apologise for being rude, but please understand there are way too many people complaining here.

Now I can also figure out why you are frustratedconsidering, like me, you paid a good portion of a thousand dollar for the device. And, as I mentioned, it is half-baked.

Annoying, yes. Impossible to use, no.

So bear with it for a week or two more and let's see if things turn around. If not, SE will realize there will be a massive exodus moving from  their customer base to other manufacturers'.

I hate waiting for things. I, too, am an impatient person.

Like other folks have already said - you won't get a firm "it's available on this date for you" date from SE because it depends where you are, and also who's providing your telecoms service (TSP). Some TSP's are better than others, hopefully you've got one of those. If SE-Aus have a Twitter or RSS feed then it might be sensible to subscribe to that - then at least you might pick up the "2.1 update available for X10's" announcement from SE and then be able to browbeat the TSP to put down the tinnies and get their a-ses moving!

Your comment on memory allocation I find interesting - exactly what is it about mem alloc that you find objectionable? I'd also like to hear more about this screen alignment issue you seem to have (drop the multi-touch complaint - we've ALL been there!)

Actually, here's a suggestion - if you try posting a list of complaints here, then that might help. You'll probably not get any reply from SE themselves, but the rest of the folks on this list are a helpful bunch and might be able to reduce the dissatisfaction level down a bit. As I've said before on this list - my first couple of days with the X10 weren't good, I actually ended up checking the prices of Nokia N95's on eBay, because it was that bad. However, with a little perseverence and some help from this list, I've now got a device I'm relatively comfortable with (the exception being the moronic way that Google decided to handle contacts - what the h*ll was wrong with doing two-way syncronisation rather than a dumb overwrite from Google contacts?)

And here is a disclaimer - there's no way that the 2.1 update will be a magic bullet. I've seen so much expectation for it, I'm seriously expecting someone to berate SE for not issuing it yet because it kills all known germs dead, solves world hunger, prevents wars, etc. Winking_Face  Yes, the update WILL make the phone better - but I've strong reservations that it'll solve all the problems that folks are complaining about.

To echo something that our colleague 'darkmax' is saying - if you're seeing unacceptable performance then it just might not be SE's fault, but the fault of the bloat that the TSP's see fit to stuff on. There's been a lot of complaints over here in the UK that Vodafone's "value add" cut performance/responsiveness by a substantial amount. Unfortunately, they TSP will have locked that down so you can't easily uninstall it. My tip - if you're willing to take the risk - is to shoot over the xda-devs forums and see if there's anyone there who's got a stripping process. I've got a couple of links myself, because I'm intending to root my phone and then remove all the Moxier suite and the Spotify client that some "nice" person in my TSP decided to install for me. The Spotify client especially is a nasty piece of c--p, even using a startup manager to kill it doesn't work - it just comes back. Slightly_frowning_Face  I'm also seriously thinking about zapping the Skype app bundled as well... Oh, and the Office suite (DataViz's is way better), and ...

Not sure about the complaints about texting and camera either - I can certainly type one-handed, just sent a Tweet this way. One tip - if you're finding the keyboard a bit "niggly" then turn the phone - the keyboard resizes, and the resulting landscape keyboard is a good deal easier to use because the keys are bigger. Camera's reasonably responsive - just did a test with it and it took just over 2 seconds to launch and about four seconds between pressing the shutter release and getting the app back ready for another shot. This is slower than most phones I've tried and certainly slower than a proper digital camera.

and they dont know what the **** is going on all they do is pass you about from coustimer service to sale department it would be a grate help if you could acctualy find out when it will be coming out it seems quite pathetic that no one acctualy knows what is going on

You want to try Three in the UK - they're okay if what you want is on their scripts, but if you ask anything else then expect the helldesk equivalent of a Blue-Screen-of-Death. They're so clueless that when I suggested (in my local Three store) contacting them with a technical issue, the sales folks rofl'd. The only other way to contact them is to post a comment on their blogs, but it's a coin flip if you get an answer or not.

And while I'm dissing Three (who - by the way - tried to sell me a Samsung Galaxy Portal instead of my X10) it never fails to amaze me that a communications company is so poor at providing ways to 'drop a dime'. And they've got a menu system on their helpdesk that seems carefully calculated to drive the caller insane in the membrane! (with respects to Cypress Hill).

It's call a system overload, be it your end or their end.
