Really this is getting on my nerves

This is the question that has not been answered to my satisfaction.

I own this stupid x10 and this is getting on my nerves.

WHERE IS THIS STUPID UPDATE TO 2.1, I don't want to hear answers like Q4 and in between and week number, I WANT A STRAIGHT FORWARD ANSWER.

Eg: the update for x10 will be released to Australian market on 27th of September and you will be able to update from our web site ( this is only an example for the answer that I'm looking for ).

Could somebody clear this up as it is very annoying.

No one can tell you that except the telco.

1. It is going to be released from SE this week.

2. It also depends on where you live because the roll out is apparently staggered.

3. If your telco wants to fiddle with it (aka add bloatwares), it will add to the time of the roll out.

You are not the only one frustrated by the wait. But like everyone else, you do. Else you might want to have a talk with Optus, Telstra or 3. See if they can give you a definite answer since they are the ones who control what you get.

why is it getting on your nerves?

Does the phone do exactly the same as when you bought it?

Yes it will be better but at the moment it's still a great piece of kit - just be patient Slightly_smiling_Face

Well it does make calls.... barely....

All this features that are packed in there and memory allocation is just.... well.... CRAP and thats being very nice.

Also touch screen is crap, no multitouch cant realign screen, lock feature is dreadfull and cant be disabled.

I have even paid for applications to have my lock feature removed and replaces but now I have 2 locks, standard one that is very slow to respond when you trying to unlock the phone and the 3rd party lock application on top of that.

It is a great phone or should i day OPERATING SYSTEM as you can customize it to your needs however more things and widgets you have it is like a snail.

I cant even type sms's with one hand as it has such bad keyboard that it needs your undivided attention just to type OK.

Sync oprion does not work had to use google and generally besides the camera that takes 2 hour to load when the button is pressed it GREAT to have SE.

I used to work for telco 8 years and this is the worst yet almost on a par with S60.

I have lost the plot trying to have this phone running in the way that is at least usable without killing tasks every time i want to use it.

I hope that gives you an Idea of what I and many others are feeling at the moment.

Thanks for the reply tho.

8 years in which Australian telco, 'mate? Sorry for being rude but you don't sound like you know much about the phone at all.

1. There are already 2 locks in the X10. The standard swipe lock, which I reckon is better than the iPhone's. And the pattern lock, which I would not recommend.

2. What do you need multi-touch for? Play games? Get a PSP or a DSi (or whatever the Nintendo is called)

3. Slow? Which X10 are you using? X10 mini? I've seen a lot of complaints here, but the phone being slow is new.

4. Ask your telco, be it Telstra, Optus or 3, not to fit all those damn bloatwares into device. That is what is slowing you X10 down.

5. Yes, I agree you can't do texting with one hand. But that is the same thing with almost all big screen phones. May be you should change the keyboard to the keypad mode.

6. SE Sync don't work in certain countries and telco. If you've worked in the industry for 8 years you should have known that by now.

7. You mean a few others. I don't have a problem with my phone.... well, not the things you mentioned anyway.

So, please. you could have tried this device over in the SE showroom before buying it. But if you are another iPhone lover, please do not come here and stir up the silt at the bottom of this lake.

Trigun, I don't know how long you've had the phone but surely you were aware of at least some of these problems you are experiencing before you got the phone.

It was never going to have a multi touch screen was it? Right from the start Sony said the hardware didn't support it. Just because a couple of forum posts somewhere said multi toch was coming doesn't make it right - funnily enough, quite a lot of what you read on teh internet isn't always factually coprrect, Saying it doesn't have that feature is like buying a normal DVD player then moaning when it doesn't play Blu-ray disks.

The camera loads fine on mine but I find it's easier to use if you put a shortcut on the desktop and use touch focus/shoot. I can take a picture in under 10 seconds which includes picking the camera up using the plenty quick enough unlock aiming the camera and shooting. Which is quicker than I can manage with my DSLR - It's a great camera for quick shots - what is the problem there?

Sync works perfectly well on my (unbranded) phone (both SE and Google) so if you have problems you should take it up with your network provider - after all it's not Sony's fault. To use another analogy it's like buying a PS3 and complaining to Microsoft that it's won't load xbox games.

I can send texts with one hand - I use the android keyboard. Maybe my hands are bigger than yours - I'm not sure that you can really blame Sony for you not being able to reach the buttons.

Stop killing tasks!!!! It serves no purpose and will (in many cases) actually slow your phone down. It's not a Windows system, it's Linux. Idle tasks don't slow the phone down. If it needs the memory then it will kill apps that don't need to be running on it's own. The irony of adding a piece of software that is constantly monitoring the phone (thus consuming memory and battery) and killing tasks only for the phone to restart them because they are needed is one that seems to have escaped an awful lot of people.

Seems to me that a lot of people are reading other people's complaints and jumping on the bandwagon when their time would be better spent reading the manual or finding out how the phone/operating system works and taking the time to enjoy using what is a great piece of kit.

Well you don't have to be rude as I'm not bagging you...

I worked at Vodafone for 8 years on retail level as well as corporate.

Unfortunately or fortunately we didn't have android OS to sell so i know less about it than i should, however i would like to point out I HATE IPHONE... I prefer blackberry

Also to summarize all that you have mentioned in reply to my MSG is that if the phone is not made to play games take pictures and so on so forth it shouldn't be advertised as complete solution to people. It suppose to revolutionize communication and multimedia and if it is struggling ( and i should get psp or gba ect ) it would defeat the purpose of having one and moving forward with technology. In regards to your comment of lock i don't know what you are smoking when you said that its a great slide lock it is inferior to any phone i have used including blackberry. It is laggy and annoying takes few goes to unlock and god forbid there is a call coming in. Main point is that it can't be disabled fucking WHY? how hard is it im not great in java but i can write you similar prog in VB or C and i can do it and I'm just an amateur. I PAYED FOR THIS SHIT and expectation is that it works to satisfaction not beyond expectations but to specifications and work well not depending on the weather phenomenon at the time. Also my handset is not BRANDED so it is SE software there is not a trace of Vodafone anywhere just the way i like it. In regards to the multy touch obviously you take me for some teenie popper that uses their phone to show off how cool I am, i use it for convenience rather that anything else I have a company phone that i use most of the time and this is just to minimize the amount of crap i have to carry with me. I need multi touch for google maps as it is essential for me as well as documents and image files that I have to use for work. Gaming only done when i travel to interstate and is not essential. Now to the closing statement..... I have only 8 widgets and it is slower than any other android that i have seen. All i want is this update as it may address the issue of memory allocation and app management, i want to delete things like TIMESCAPE and have locks removed so i can use the custom ones that do work better on their own.

No offence to you in any way i understand that you may work for SE but I dont care it still does not solve my problem and believe me many people will know about my experience as i like to share my pain and prevent my customers from enduring this torture that we call upgrade to 2.1

I'm not arguing some of those point about multi touch I know that i should have looked at it a bit better.

I had this phone for few months now and as i don't know where you are from i'm not aware of how and what did you see when the phone was demonstrated to you.

In here the only place really that you can see the live model is TSHOP and maybe selected Vodafone shops most of the other dealers have dummy phones and haven't got working models.

So i had played with it in a TSHOP but it was just out of the box without any widgets and things that make my life easier so i could not compare.

I like the customization idea that is great but it needs to work well. I also understand that there are independent dev teams and the apps are not tested to the point where they are without any faults like IPHONE ( so that we clear I Hate IPHONE ).

But as i was trying to explain to the other dude is that i paid for product and expect it to work at least to my satisfaction and believe me i don't have high standards in that regard i'm very very forgiving but when you are trying to unlock the phone with that stupid slide while your phone is ringing....

and then you miss a call and then you get a pop up saying something had an unexpected close as then your android home crashes and you cant press anything for 7 seconds and then your notification slide from top doesn't want to come down so you can at least see who called you so you can use even worse phone to call them back and 3g stops working after you used wifi and on and on and on, how much can one tolerate?

I just want it to work.

I'm considering doing an insurance job that's how frustrated i am i will clubber this thing just to pay $300 to get a phone equivalent in value.

But its not your fault and  that other dude took it too personal like i was abusing his mom or something, even if he works for SE he is just a number and everyone is replaseable  like i always say.

i have acctualy tryed to ring my network (o2)

and they dont know what the hell is going on all they do is pass you about from coustimer service to sale department it would be a grate help if you could acctualy find out when it will be coming out it seems quite pathetic that no one acctualy knows what is going on

Truth is.... no one actually knows.I know it sucks, but hey.... we're all sitting in the same boat waiting to throw the developer overboard, as soon as he gets on.
