No sound when using garmin gps on xperia x10

Although the maps work perfect, I just cannot seem to get voice prompts from the phone. I have selected the language, but there is no sound. Cananyone assist?

If Garmin is supposed to have voice prompts, then it should either prompt you to download the sound files at start-up, or it will be in the application's settings for you to select. Do any of the Garmin settings have an "enable voice prompts" or "download sound files" option? What other options do you have in Garmin's settings? Is there, for example, a volume control or language setting?

Yes, it isin the application settings for me to select, which I did. The garmin software works perfectly on my experia x1, but no sound on the x 10 So the voice prompts is enabled, yes. There is an icon to tap so you can disable the sound, and then enable. I am 100% sure that it is enabled. there is a "Volume settings" icon you can tap. The volume is on high. There is a "Set language" setting too. I selected English Africa and tried other options too. It also has "set voice" and it's here where the problem starts. A message then prompts "Playing voice sample. Tap to use this voice", but there is NO sound. It then gives a icon "select" which I did, but still no joy...

Alright. the next best thing I can advise is:

1. Uninstall the software.

2. Turn the phone off, and remove the battery.

3. Wait at least 15 seconds for a full electrical discharge in the hardware/components.

4. Replace the battery, and turn the device on again.

5. Re-download the software (could be a corruption in your initial download)

6. Re-install the software.

7. Check all appropriate settings.

If it all works out, you will have a voice prompt and the map navigation running smoothly. At worst, you have the same issue again.

Thank you ALL for trying to assist me, but I still have not figured it out. I visited the Garmin dealer today. They couldn't figure it out either and refunded me. Well, I am now using Wisepilot that came with the X10 and it works like a dream, WITH SOUND lol.

If someone reading this post ever figures out what to do, please let me know, although by that time I would be so used to Wisepilot that I probably wouldn't want to revert bac kto Garmin anyway. Thanks again for all the support.

I have similar issue with GPS software from mapmyindia.com(mobile maps 9,sygic). It was working couple of updates back then stopped working all together. Not sure what the problems is, have tried reinstall with no luck.

Using it without voice for now.

Usually this kind of issue is related to the application itself not functioning correctly. Have you tried any other GPS software? If other GPS software works fine on the handset, we would recommend speaking with the manufacturer of the application you are currently using on the handset for further information.
