Today I called Mexico Sony Ericsson support, I asked about update for Xperia X10, they told it has been released since yesterday 19th september, I've been trying to download this updating using companion software and the updating system from the phone & I get notifications which say "your phone already has the latest software" , Can some one tell me what is happening, is it true the update is ready? Where can I get it? is it necessary to take my phone to sony ericsson support?
It might be available but your phones network provider might not have released it as they need to add their own things.
Just checked, no update available for xperia x10(India-no contract). Any idea when?
hey krazyD,
whats happening? where are the updates promised by end of Q3? im using a non contract phone. the unlocked one..
or there's a delay again to support this xperia x10?
@KrazyD: as a moderator on this forum, do you not have any official word from SE themselves as to whether or not the update has been released to the Telcos of a particluar region? or if delayed what the expected dates / improvements in functionality are of this exactly? I would have thought if the original times of end of September is still on SE should now be in a position to communicate this type of info to us?
Hello! KazyD
I think it is not possible that update be ready & blocked by network provider, I suppose there is a contract between Sony Ericsson & network provider, If network provider was not interested in updating the phone, in the signing of the contract it has been stablished & regional Sony Ericsson support does not have to give information.
Hello sub0:
I agree with you, there is not information about which network providers are going to block the update, but I got information from Mexico´s Sony Ericsson Support, Why? They told me the update was available since 19th Sepetember, I suppose Sony Ericsson Support centers have reliable information, maybe, Sony Ericsson is misleading customers. They have to notify what is happening, I am happy with my Xperia X10 with 1.6 android, I think it does not need an updating, but if finally SE does not think to update the software, They do not have to give false hopeless jaja
just a question what is that gotta do with providers? you are downloading it direct from SE via their software. I don't understand how the NETWORK provider will stop the MANUFACTURER releasing updates on to their web site. My phone for instance is not branded in any way and I bough it like that form the telco shop. I don't update through their web site so I don't see the issue there is SE drainers that are killing time for something or rather the all have 2.1 on their x10's or even better they use Blackberry for a company phone LOL knobs....
Pst... even though your phone is not branded, you are using an operator. they would want to include their cohorts' wares into your phone, claiming it to be network revenue subsidies, etc. Basically, we are at the mercy of their bloatwares. My phone is contract free as well.
Let me explain what usaully happene in Mexico with my network provider (Telcel), when Telcel got the exclusive of a terminal, they stablished in a contract with manufacturer, how the phone is going to be sold, what will be the sofware pre-installed & if the updates will be available, if there is something that could affect the Telcel´s earnings, Telcel require SE (in this case) no to provide centain software or no to provide updates, some years ago when I got an Omnia (Samsung), there was available an update for windows mobile, here in Mexico was not possible to update the terminal, because in the updating Samsung was adding software to facillitate the internet access trough the WI-FI, Telcel has began to provide 3G services if they allowed update the terminals, their earnings wil be affected because customers will be available to use WI-FI in public sites.
