Dear lord I don't even know where to start with the Vivaz Pro.
1. I can't transfer contacts in bulk from my C902 because "they run different operating systems". Worst translation of "we were too lazy to write the necessary code" I've come across. Thankfully I have managed to do this but it was a very painful experience. Makes me wonder why I didn't just get a Nokia since my 902 and Vivaz are so incompatible.
2. I can't control music (fwd, rwd, volume) while the phone is locked. Pretty rubbish if you're used to using these functions with a phone in your pocket (eg when out running, in the rain etc). Again, why is it so hard for SE to code this? Can *I* do this myself?
3. I can't access my 1,200+ tracks by typing the first few letters of the tracks name. For adding tracks to a playlist this is a horrific FAIL. SE excuse for this was that "the Vivaz has no keyboard". I asked, "what about the Pro?" and they didn't respond. I have tried to get my WMP playlists onto the phone but unfortunately I always get an error when I try and it never completes. So I'm stuck and not happy. Any tips on synching with media player? PC Companion (or whatever it is called) insists on installing Quicktime but I refuse to use this terrible memory-intensive software. There's got to be some way out...
4. The web browsing is shockingly slow. Even on basic pages. My C902 is faster so it's not the network. Is there something in the setting that I can tweak to speed up browsing.
5. Youtube playback is ridiculous. Once I had transferred by M2 card contents to the MicroSD it pretty much used up all the capacity and the phone told me that it couldn't stream from Youtube as there was not enough memory left. I have now bought a 16Gb MicroSD card and Youtube will play...but it buffers for 26 seconds and then plays for 6. Then buffers for 26 and plays for 6. This is NO WAY to watch a video. Again, does something need tweaking in the settings?
Is there a better media player out there for this phone? What about operating system? This phone is a major disappointment. Sorry for the long post.
Hmm, have you updated the firmware? I have the latest one, And i can watch a movie and listen to some music, and it's still has like 80% left, and i must say, the battery is OUTSTANDING!
the more you use the phone, and recharge it the better the battery becomes, ( i dont know why, but it is that way)
And I'm not bound to any operator so i can go on any nework etc
( I use Tele 2 and I live in Sweden)
(Try this)
Menu>Settings>Phone>Get settings>Internet and MMS
Also make sure your on the right nework and that it has 3G connectivity (you can see that in the far-left corner if it has a small 3G logo)
If not check if the nework type is right :
Menu>Settings>Communications>Network>Choose operator>Manual
Thanks Anton,
I think our system in the UK is quite different to yours. I have a contract with only 1 provider so I can't change networks without using a different sim card.
And my provider's 3G service is very poor. It is so poor that it is better not to use it, because it almost never works. That's just the way it goes.
Still looking for a good music player but I'm getting there. What phone did you use before this one? I'm stunned that you think the battery is so good! I get 1.5 days standby ~(without running stuff in the background, without playing music etc). This is pretty poor for most phones, but maybe with the big screen i guess that's the trade-off?
hmm we in Sweden have the opposite we have very good 3G coverage, so good that the (Iphone 4 antenna issue) isn't almost noticeable, and we already have 4G.
I used X5310, the only thing I'm missing is better audio and better musicplayer and less buggy/freezing software. on all the other points this phone is better, all though it's double the price when both models were new.
Maybe you find that useful for your Vivaz Pro:
